The Future of Linked Repeaters??? Must Watch!
WRUU653 replied to marcspaz's topic in FCC Rules Discussion
Thanks for sharing. That sounds like it was a completely thankless task. -
Wouxun KG-935 Plus frequency limits
WRUU653 replied to numnutz6383's question in Technical Discussion
@numnutz6383, Okay I gave this a shot in Chirp. I changed the frequency limit to 485.000 on UHF RX, uploaded to the radio and I can now set the radio with a RX of 484.4000. Of course this is RX only. Give it a shot and see if you pick up the station. -
Honestly one of the best qualities a person can have. Like @SteveShannon says don't be hard on yourself. None of us will ever be as smart as we once thought we were now that we know we weren't. I include myself in that. or something to that effect.
-
Not once have I struggled with trying to get some port recognition while using Chirp and a Mac. I can't say that for windows and whatever software is supplied by the radio manufacturer. Therefore I like Chirp. To each their own...

Reading through the rules again I am wondering whatever happend to Midlands request for a waver to use digital on GMRS mobile radios and increase power for such transmissions? I'm guessing it's part of the slow moving FCC approval process.

you know it never rains

Take a look at this it will help you understand the Chirp settings. https://wiki.radioreference.com/images/0/0a/CHIRP_tone_programming.pdf

This was great review reading for me, my new soldering station just showed up from my Prime day purchase.

Repeater network in Wyoming and Montana
WRUU653 replied to PBRStreetGang's topic in National and Regional GMRS Nets
What the actual f are you talking about? He's not talking about linking. The guy just wants to talk to people in the area. Learn some reading skills, get help, see a specialist, either back away or increase your meds. You have missed the plot here. Way to help a guy out man, nice job. -
I don’t want to be negative here but your electrician may want to familiarize themselves with the electrical code section 110.26 Spaces About Electrical Equipment. Particularly the section and tables on working clearances. Your local utilities company also will have rules.

This is gold!!!

I’m gonna take a guess based on my perception of Randy’s humor that @OffRoaderX was having a bit of fun with the redundancy of stating your call sign in your post when it’s already your name on the site. So I can’t help wonder why you got ousted from the club? Was it the colorful language? As @marcspaz mentioned I have found the Nagoya NA-701C to do well. For mobile the Comet SBB5 does good on 2m/440 and okay on GMRS but as stated the antenna that is tuned for what you’re using is going to do the best for that. Everything else is going to be a compromise. Cheers

Well that’s just a bit too close,

It’s good to hear you’re safe. It’s great that you had discussions on evacuation routes and having the radios programmed for the necessary frequencies could potentially give you time sensitive information on doing an evacuation if needed. We had a fire not far from us a few years back (thankfully not as close as yours) and the event was partially responsible for my renewed interest in radios. When the next one happened and I watched from my back yard as the helicopters and planes were making their drops I was able to listen in on the fire fighters. I felt pretty good about how they got after it and didn’t hesitate to call for more air support. Again, it’s good to hear you are safe. Thanks for sharing.

Club memberships required to use (aka Pay to play)
WRUU653 replied to UncleYoda's topic in FCC Rules Discussion
yes yes okay, back on topic... Do you like club sandwiches and would you pay for them... something like that I think. -
Thanks @SteveShannon, I think I understand it better now. I never have used it so I was never sure what people use it for. Sounds like it puts all your forums in one app and streamlines it. My perception was that it’s used to alert you but if that’s the case I don’t want my devices bothering me more than they already do

I do remember that

A funny thing happened at my ham test today...
WRUU653 replied to back4more70's topic in Amateur Radio (Ham)
I did this as well. Aced the tech and I wanted to go out on a high note. as Arnold says “I’ll be back” -
Congratulations on your new radio. Don’t feel like you got to figure it all out at once. That said when you’re ready you may want to check out Chirp for programming (be sure to select the 935G Plus version). Randy (AKA Notarubicon) actually has some good videos (repeaters, programming with Chirp etc…) that you may find helpful.
-
You got it.
-
The transmit and receive are on the same repeater channel but not the same frequency. Repeater channels on GMRS have a preset (automatic)+5 offset. So in this case your radio is transmitting on 467.625 (which is the repeaters receive) and receiving on 462.625.

And a cheery good morning to you sir. Sorry my bad, I should have specified anyone other than WRXP381 planning on getting something or found some good deals out there for Prime Day to share?
-
Looks like an inexpensive way to get into DMR. Nice.

I saw some good deals out there. Retevis Ra25 $83.99 and its counterpart the DB20 for $87.99. The Retevis RT95 for $99.99. What if anything are you going to grab today?
