  1. I think he might own stock in that app as he is always promoting it.
  2. So true…
  3. @SteveShannon full disclosure I do not have this year Taco. I did run the radio in mine all the way to the battery and have no noise issues. I also programmed my radio to turn off after a certain amount of time should I forget to turn it off to save the battery. All that said I looked over the interior fuses on the year in question albeit on line and noticed that there is a 20 amp fuse for a sun roof which may come in handy for your friend if he doesn’t have a sun roof. Good luck.
  4. Aside from the ground plane (a good observation from @BoxCar), make sure you are programmed on a repeater channel (23-30, 31-38…) as mentioned by @WRQC527 . These will have the preset offset. Otherwise you may be trying to reach the repeater on simplex.

@mitzvah your original post was random and not a cohesive train of thought. A bit of fun was had at your expense. I recommend you try reading your own post before posting it. This isn’t the first time people didn’t know what you were trying to say. Moving on from that @SteveShannon I think has some good advice for the hearing issue which must be frustrating. Cheers

  7. This is good news. Stay safe. I saw a similar photo from the lake fire in Santa Ynez where the fire came right up to a radio tower fence. The fact that the tower was still there must have been due to the great work these fire fighters do.
  8. Pin a piece off paper with your tower info and little precut tear away tabs with your phone number at the local laundromat bulletin board… I hope this helps, good luck bro.
  9. I’ve had a couple of these for about two years now. I’ve had no issues and despite being way less expensive than other radios I have they work just as good. None of the bells and whistles but solid cheep radios you can beat up that sound good.
  10. Your settings look correct to me. I guess I would question if you are in range. Hearing a repeater doesn’t mean you’ll reach it as you may know. Sorry I’m not more help
  11. Does the Kenwood have the ability to TX in the 467.700 range?
  12. Soooo, he’s single now? edit: I guess we know why she’s packing up and heading to the parents.
  13. Buy Two way Radios say it’s in stock. Comet CA-712EF is there a difference between 712EF and 712EFC ? edit- it looks like there is possibly. My bad
  14. Welcome to the forum Vince
  15. I can read well enough to see your post are filled with typos. What part of the fcc rules escapes me? Please enlighten me. I’ve never said repeaters should be linked. I just don’t agree with your tactics. You’re an a**. I have tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, assuming you may have some personal issues. I wish you luck, however I don’t see the benefit of engaging with you anymore.
  16. I have had a similar experience. Near me is a lake and at the far end is a canyon that I should not be able to hit a repeater over the mountain and yet I can just break the squelch on it in a particular spot. It has been suggested I might be bouncing the signal. I’ve just accepted it’s PFM (pure fn magic)
  17. And yet this thread and its question has nothing to do with linked repeaters. Not everything does you know. Also these repeaters appear to be active. So you are just wrong. Most of all you offered no help for the person looking for info, just your obsession with linked repeaters.
  18. Ahhh, Amigos de Randy!
  19. They are referring to requests not the repeater. If you are not signed in it says disabled by owner. Although it’s the same information as the forum you need to sign in separately on the map/repeater page. Once you do you’ll not see disabled anymore but rather that the repeaters (ones in question here) are open and the tones are displayed along with the request button. This has nothing to do with “repeaters dropping like flies” as it was suggested by @WRUE951. He’s just obsessed with another topic not relevant here. Try and be helpful people. Edit: in short, once you are able to register here you’ll see the info you are looking for.
  20. I quickly closed the screen when I saw the title while the opening commercial played
  21. Looks like it does the one key pairing. All the photos that they have showing the display shows one channel with the RX and TX frequencies and corresponding tones displayed. So it may not have dual channel/frequency display. Simple five button keypad on the front. It certainly seems geared towards simple group coms. They don’t seem to have a manual on line for it yet. I had looked over it’s more simple name sake the NR30 (no “s”) as a simple hand out to those that don’t know or care about key pads and displays. I would also be interested in how well the noise canceling works. I would be interested in knowing more as well even if it is “just another radio” as “Some people” say. I guess that’s why I’m on a radio forum.
  22. Wait I got this… I guess you could fish without a fishing license… until you get hit by a bus

Here is another thread on the subject.
  24. Any look at that here wouldn’t likely represent the vast amount of people that get GMRS or FRS radios and just use them for every day activities and aren’t part of a radio forum.
  25. I think that scanning isn’t the likely use case here. More likely in this case you will know the frequency of the aircraft and airport so if you are hanging out by the airport while your son is getting lessons you can listen to him. Sounds like a cool use of the radio.
