Dunno, but Mav got inverted once and saw a MiG close up.

Is there a question in that ^ ? Have you read all the manuals? Asking for a friend.

I hope there will be a video of that conversation. [emoji41] -

Can I use Morse code to identify myself on my GMRS handheld radio?
Hoppyjr replied to Slickii's topic in myGMRS.com
I think it’s pretty obvious that we’re all a bit nerdy, but that Morse code station ID is some next level pocket protector stuff. -
Should be just Ethernet cable, if so you could add another and use a female-female connector.
-
You could mount the radio body in the trunk too.

Why be “that guy” when speaking your callsign isn’t exactly a heavy lift. -
I really don’t see dust or debris being an issue. Velcro the chassis on top of or next to the rear floor vents and it’ll be fine.

If you’re looking to clean up the install, consider detaching the faceplate and mounting the radio body under one of the front seats. You can use some heavy duty Velcro (hook side) on the bottom of the radio, then it’ll stick to the carpet well (avoid the rear seat heating ducts). The faceplate could easily mount to the top of your cubby area using the same type Velcro, or better yet 3M tape strips (often found at the hardware store). This would eliminate the boxes and all that mess in the console.

What some people do for fun…..

OK Steve, good info but waaaaaay over my head. [emoji23] The fact remains that it worked better for me than the Midland 3db.

I’m not sure where you got “0 db” as the specs suggest about 2.4 but I think it varies. I initially had the Midland 3db “Ghost” antenna and I find the Larsen outperforms the Midland in actual use. We were in my son’s Jeep in North Bend (Washington) and hit a repeater that is over 70 miles away (Gold Mountain). The terrain is not flat. We were quite pleased. I regularly hit the same repeater from about the same distance in the Toyota too.

Unfortunately, if you have the hardtop the Larsen LP450NMO won’t work on the speaker bar. It does fit on the JLU, but won’t on my son’s JKU. Maybe the JKU soft top would clear, but just skip that and….. The good news….. mount that sucker to the cowl panel under the windshield. It blends in well, works fantastic, and if you should ever decide to remove it, replacing that cowl panel is simple and relatively inexpensive. Here’s photos of our install.

When the topic first came back up, I did some video watching on the YouTube and I found there are some interesting options. There are a handful of guys modding radios to do CB (10 & 11m) and doing a “peak & tune” with other options to make it perform better. The Stryker SR25 was the one I was considering, due to its very small footprint. After talking with (LesComm) “Lester’s Customs” he suggested the Anytone Apollo 2 with enhancements and MOSFET 5 & 6 finals. That would give you better power and stronger signal. Not cheap, but if I were to go down that road I’d want the power to get the job done. I was looking at that radio with a Larsen NMO antenna on a hood lip mount.

I agree. I find no use for CB, especially with the goofballs out there these days.

Mounting Wouxun KG-1000G + Front Panel w/ Magnetic Tape Strips

You forgot to ask him how many genders there are. He’s a biological science guy, so he must know! Could be helpful info for Grindr. Just sayin’. -
Consider searching and watching videos on the YouTube, where many questions can be answered before being asked.

Would like to know what radio you are using

Here’s my ride & radio. 2022 4Runner & Icom 2730. The antenna on left is a Larsen LP450NMO for GMRS, the one on right is for the Wilson WeBoost cell booster. Most of the lights & electronics are run through the SwitchPros panel. If anyone is a 4Runner fan and interested, here’s my build thread: Hoppy’s build thread - 2022 ORP https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/topic?share_fid=10034&share_tid=308118&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Etoyota-4runner%2Eorg%2Fshowthread%2Ephp%3Ft%3D308118&share_type=t&link_source=app
