HCCFCA Posted March 21 Report Posted March 21 March 2024 Update from Bastrop, Tx. Alamo/New Braunfels is my closest repeater on the Alamo network. It is 70 miles away and pegs the meter on my KG-1000. Yesterday, I did a radio check and spoke to a 2 mobile units at both ends of 1604, east side and west side. They were as clear as day on my end and they heard me LC. What an awesome service to our Tx GMRS community. Many thanks to all involved. WSFK753, WSFP961 and FranktheTank 3 Quote

Thinking of putting up a repeater off 281 north of 306. have a 50' tower and up on a hill with pretty clear line of sight all around. Have a Vertex VXR-7000 with a GMRS tuned duplexer. I hear some traffic at my house on 462.550 but for some reason cant seem to get a radio check out. Any help would be appreciated. I am retired so pretty much available most days. Any luck with new repeaters by Blanco, i'm in north Spring Branch? Quote
WRTM311 Posted April 1 Report Posted April 1 Still working on it. Been busy with house stuff and life. Quote
Rox Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 -Upgrayedd- I did a thing. Going from UV-9G to a GMRS Pro. Hopefully, I’m making a good move here. Thoughts? Quote

Only traffic around here is a couple of kids and Chick-Fil-A. Looking for a good base antenna at this point as well. JG I live off of Marbach Road and 1604 and I can hit the north east for Peter and the northwest repeater. Let me know if you want to get together so we can link you up to these repeaters. I'm using a Comet 712EFC base antenna tuned for GMRS and it seems to be great. The closest repeater to me is Austin 725 at about 20 miles. Can't hit that one but I can skip over that one to the repeater NW of Austin at 40+miles. I live in downtown Austin. Just getting into GMRS, and would love to connect with you to learn a bit more. I got access to the Holly 550 and Flintrock Hill repeaters but have not connected yet. WSFP961 1 Quote
WSFP961 Posted November 9 Report Posted November 9 From here in Dripping Springs, the Flintrock Hill (625) and Alamo New Braunfels (725) work great. I have talked to folks in Seguin and Blanco through Alamo NB. I am 26.2 miles away from that repeater which is great for a 5W HT. SteveShannon 1 Quote

Many people dont get that with a 50w base station and a jpole or Ed fong. Quote

At first I thought I was connecting to another repeater with the same freq/tone but after connecting with people in Blanco and Seguin I realized that Alamo NB is just a solid setup. I also hear the station ID for Leander (600) loud and clear at 23.7 miles, but I can't get a signal back with my HT to transmit out. I am up on a hill with clear views north and east. Don't have a base station or antenna setup yet. Quote
