223Nebraska Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 So a question I have is that I requested permission to use repeaters and they were approved but the owners didn't message me the unlisted PL TONES. Do I have to somehow message them and beg for the tones? I would have assumed that in the response message field they would have maybe responded with something instead of just an approval. What's the typical process of getting tones on an unlisted non subscription repeater? Thanks. Sab02r 1 Quote
gortex2 Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 Are the tones listed on the main page under the repeater ? IF not then reply to the message and ask for the tones. Remember you must be logged inot the main page to see tones. Quote
223Nebraska Posted January 12, 2023 Author Report Posted January 12, 2023 Yes I'm logged in and it still shows unlisted. Are you thinking that "Unlisted" changes on the repeater lookup after approval? Because mine didn't. It sounds like I'm going to have to reach out again for further approval. Quote
gortex2 Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 If its unlisted then send him a message. I asked if you were logged in as many dont and if not logged in tones are not visable. Quote
UncleYoda Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 For the ones I've done, the tones were given to me in an email. Nothing changed on the mygmrs repeater listing (tones still not shown). Maybe the repeater owner you requested approval from doesn't know he has to send that to you. nokones Posted January 29, 2023 Report Posted January 29, 2023 That link is dangerous, at least according to Norton. Quote

Since you are approved, if you can hear others gaining access to that repeater on the INPUT channel, for example 467.550, and if your radio can scan for tones, you can gain the information you need before they send you it. That's one reason I picked up the TYT-UV88 for just $34 with free shipping, because it is a ham radio VHF/UHF HT that can be opened to GMRS and scans for tones. It is similar to the Radioddity GM-30. MichaelLAX Posted January 29, 2023 Report Posted January 29, 2023 Which repeater are you trying to access? All 3 repeaters nearby you on this Map, have tones listed. You may need to Log-in separately when you are in Repeaters/Maps on this website: Quote

I don’t think he heard my other coworkers snicker. He asked if it was a security issue, while missing the even more important question: Can you download RAM? I said it’s best not to visit the site, and spared him the history lesson. Quote
