Stubby Antennas

WRWH978

Question

I've got an MFJ-1719S on my Yaesu 70D that I use just when I want to keep a compact feel to the radio, kind of more like a large cell phone.  Anyone else use these types of antennas? I guess it depends on the situation - easier to put in a coat pocket or backpack, quick grab, accessible.

Don't expect much range. They are basically radiating dummy loads. IMHO they are a waste of money.

I have not tried one yet but have heard that they are good if you want to limit your range intentionally such as using your radios as an intercom or just around the yard for example where you don't need the whole town to hear your conversations. Another tool for the radio tool bag I suppose.
