  1. Past hour
  2. I have all the confidence in the world that you can make your CCRs make the trek because you have those special CCRs that were blessed by Zenu. I think I better pass on that bet.
  3. Martin Jue is 80 years old...and wants to spend what he has left of his life, enjoying his family. I'd prefer to see some outfit, like Vibroplex, buy the company and keep it going somehow. I was amazed they still did manufacturing in Mississippi....figured it was all outsourced. Best of luck to them....in 30 + years I have spent thousands with MFJ.
  4. I bet a CCR standing in the exact same spot as you and your XTS can. As a matter of fact, I guarantee that it can.
  5. Wow that is not bad for a CCR. I can do a ton better then that with my Motorola XTS5000 UHF Type 3 that has front panel programming using a Motorola 5 1/4" flex antenna and a Motorola 11 year old battery that still has about 94% capacity after a complete recharge . And on some days I can communicate from Phoenix all the way to Albuquerque with that portable. I bet your CCR can't do that. If I need to listen to NOAA I can whip out my VHF XTS1500 and as for AM-FM stations, are they still on the air? I haven't listened to a commercial-laden AM FM broadcast station well over 20 years. I have commercial-free XM in all of my vehicles and trailer, except for one vehicle. That vehicle is only equipped with a Motorola XTS1500 Type 2 UHF Two-Way Radio that is connected to a Phantom antenna.
  6. It’s similar to the Garmin Rino’s (GPS/GMRS radio combo) of the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. It only sends data to other radio units. Only the Garmin units allowed you to send text messages to other folks close by without needing a phone.
  7. I think you should choose whichever of the two has the features that best meet your wants, needs, and desires in a radio.
  8. Awesome! I'm trying to decide between the KG-UV9GX and the KG-Q10G for my next radio... can't make up my mind.... @OffRoaderX what are your thoughts between those 2 HT's?
  9. I actually do. I have uv5’s boofwang uv9r’s uv21’s uv17’s and kg-uv9gx’s and Motorola xts3000’s I love them all in there own way.
  10. Today
  11. Thanks for the tips, I'm to gmrs and know antennas help out because I'm a truck driver and used CB radios for 25+ years and the antenna makes a big difference. I'm learning asi go with GMRS, excited to see how far I can take it.
  12. Sweet! Do you have either the Wouxun KG-Q10G or KG-UV9GX?
  13. thanks i was already looking at the KG-UV9D for amateur radio now i found my gmrs handheld Wouxun KG-935G thankyou for the posting and sharing
  14. The biggest problem is they bought so many companies. If they go under we lose all lot of companies. Like ameritron. Albeit many of them would be gone if MFJ hadn't bought them in the first place. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  15. Just a friendly heads up. When asking questions about repeaters don’t post specific info on the repeater unless you are in the private (members only) area of the forum. So maybe just don’t include the name of the repeater or leave out specific tones. Here’s the what and why per forum rules located here. Private content. Do not post sensitive information such as repeater PL/DPL (also known as privacy or CTCSS/DCS tones) tones outside of the Private Discussion forum. This is to protect sensitive information from being picked up and indexed by search engines such as Google and Bing. The N indicates Normal while an I would be for Inverted. As you mentioned there is a +5 for Tx. It is worth noting that the +5 is automatically added on the preset repeater channels of GMRS radios and won’t require you to add it. You may know this already so I mean no disrespect by mentioning it, just trying to help. It sounds like you are on the right path.
  16. @kidphc I really hope he sells to someone. It won't be the same, im sure... but it would be nice if someone is willing to carry on the legacy.
  17. Thought it was a rumor on reddit. They have been trying to sell. I really thought dxenginnering was going to pick them up. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  18. I'm heartbroken. We're losing some affordable, quality products soon. https://youtu.be/1r-RxIvw5zY?si=6sdAppWmYd1rrqP7

  23. GM-5RH worked in Chirp for my UV-5G plus. MohawkMike actually found it on Baofens's website.
  24. My HT collection/journey thus far! Radios in order of acquisition from left-to-right: Baofeng UB-5G, Baofeng UV-5G+, Tidradio TD-H3, Tidradio TD-H8, Wouxun KG-S88G. If you have any questions about any of these radios, feel free to ask! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. The pinouts I got was when using my standard RJ12/RJ45 cable tester with the connectors both facing the same direction ( clip on bottom). I tested both the short cable and the long extension cable. IMG_3755.MOV
