    Retevis 40 watt repeater

So it looks like Retevis RT91 amplifier compatible with RT97? Randy has his video up and something to say about that… I’ll let Randy take credit for posting the link. Go check it out. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone by giving it away. ? Thanks for addressing this Randy.

I have the UV9PX, same radio but firmware for HAM. My review. Its a nice radio. It takes a SMA male antenna.

  6. Ah yes thanks Sshannon, I do remember that now (bit foggy with a cold). Since he said mystery company I thought he might be referring to this… No company mentioned as of yet. I’ll be interested to see what comes out. On both counts. I don’t suppose it would do any good to send Randy one of my mechanical pencils? No I didn’t think so. ?

  8. Up above WRVD377 posted the following: May have missed it was me (wrvd377 in a post above) that posted part of an email reply. Sent: Tuesday, November 29, 2022 9:23 PM Hello, We have plan to make 40W GMRS analog repeater, but the available date is not known yet, once we have update, will public to our SNS, you will see that. If this repeater you plan to use in which application scenario? Like farm, or factory, or ? Thanks! Thanks and Regards, Elsa Jin (Customer Manager) Web:www.retevis.com So based on what I was wrote, 40W is coming some time. No reference to any other product or timeline. Trying not to post too much, but they clearly wanted to know uses cases.

  9. You turn it off, then turn it on while holding the top button on the left, then select GMRS.

    Retevis 40 watt repeater

If you’re talking about Randy’s upcoming mystery company he said it would be the same wattage as the Retevis RT97 which is 10 watts, effectively 5 on output. I think someone said Retevis was coming out with a higher wattage repeater at some point but hey apparently (as Randy has shown us) they lie sometimes. ?

I'm on the list as well. As far as I know the use SMA male antennas so you just need an adapter. I just received a package of them so I can use anything including my Midland MXT12 mag mount on my roof mounting an MXT26 6db gain antenna for my truck. Also got a super flexible cable to attach to the roof antenna to any HT. Hoping my 9GX gets here soon!

  12. The CPS doesn’t work that way. To edit the channel double click on the double chevron on the rightmost end, under the “more” column.

    Wouxun KG-UV7D 2M/6M

You could build two of those and mount them at 90 degrees to form a turnstile antenna at 6M. That would give you horizontal polarization and a 360 degree compass coverage. Some Notes On Turnstile Antenna Properties - QEX 2002-03.pdf

For a cheap portable antenna for 6m the one in the link looks simple enough to build out of coax. https://vk1nam.wordpress.com/6m-sota-antenna/

  15. I followed MichaelLAX's diagram. You drag the antenna from continental map, and don't zoom into location first.

  16. I figured it out. I made it harder than it needed to be. I followed MichaelLAX's diagram. You drag the antenna from continental map, and don't zoom into location first. Thanks everyone.

  17. If that's both radios on the same antenna, coax, etc, where the radio is the only variable, alignment would be my next thought. The line of sight nature of UHF can mean moving the antenna just a foot one way or the other can affect reception though, so.i'd want to rule out all the other possibilities first The beauty of identical models though, being able.to carry over the programming between Them.

  18. Here are some pics of my portable repeater build. (still a work in progress) I used industrial adhesive hook & loop to fasten everything inside the case. This is the same setup I have running my base repeater. About 50 feet above ground on the tallest building in town. Please rate my setup...

Just got my GMRS license and a 15w Midland Micro. Please rate my setup and any feedback appreciated. In all seriousness big thank you to everyone and all the info here. It's helped me navigate repeater setup and hardware choice for my needs.

  24. Unfortunately I got a battery with the same serial too. Plus weird behavior. When put on a impress charger, it will only attempt to recondition the battery and never charge it. I left it on for 3 days with no change of the chargers status light. When I attempt to read the Impress data on the radio it just says "Unknown Battery", and it displays this when booting up too. Time to get a refund. ?

  25. The Wouxun KG 1000g uses a superheterodyne receiver. It is not a radio on a chip design. People need to actually learn about the radios they dismiss. If people keep maligning new GMRS radios online, without actually understanding the specs, manufacturers will stop producing new GMRS radios. I, for one, am happy to see companies actually producing GMRS radios. Sorry, but if we are relegated to only buying old radios that are not Part 95 certified, but Part 90 certified, eventually we will have no radios available for use, and no new GMRS radios.

  26. Ultimately, my goal with a garage repeater is essentially a chunky base station radio with a pocket-sized "terminal". But I live in a coverage gap between all the repeaters in the area. When conditions are good, I can occasionally hear one ID. 95% of the time, I hear nothing from them; 100% of the time, I can't open them up. I think there's a role for the garage repeater, but that role goes away if there's preexisting good coverage.
