  1. Very good explanations in this thread. Ground because lightning. Bond because potential.
  2. Dogs like us struggle with keyboards. I'm trying to get into CW. Strait key obviously. Paddles are out of the question.
  3. Yeah, that's weird. First time I've seen that happen.
  4. @RogerSpendlove I found replacement clips for the GM-15 Pro but they didn't come with screws. Went back and forth with the seller about the screws. It sounded like they didn't understand me. Of course that could have been intentional.
  5. That is just sad. I guess that is where Randy came up with the term "sad ham." I have been very fortunate that I have not had such experiences. All the hams I associate with are very good people. And many of them are dual licensed.
  6. That 778 is the one I have. Nice radio for the price. It can transmit on 2m, 70cm, and GMRS if you pick the right band range. Yes, I know, I'm slapping my own hand for saying it.
  7. Did I miss something? Where does FRS come into this? The MP31 is a GMRS radio.
  8. How close are they to each other. You might be experiencing desense. Make sure you separate the two radios by about 50 ft or so and try again.
  9. Yep, there are other brands that are way more expensive.
  10. CW is a mode. Morse Code is the most common code use with CW.
  11. Another vote for the 778UVII. Been enjoying my for a while now.
  12. After Beryl hit and cell service was down, there were 2 ham repeaters and 1 GMRS repeater still up and running I was able to use.
  13. Then don't.
  14. That's a very good question and I doubt any human on earth can answer it.
  15. Stop being such a looser. I doubt you even read it.
  16. I'm testing my will power. Timing how long I can go without laughing at @PRadio's Midland page . Well crap, that didn't last long.
  17. True. And throughout amateur radio history there has been very few HF HTs ever made.
  18. @UncleYoda That is my understanding as well. A GMRS "type certified" radio is not supposed to be able to transmit outside of the GMRS frequencies in any form or fashion.
  19. Speaking of which, why do we park on the driveway and drive on the parkway?
  20. In the software, click on "Phone System" on the left. In the "Phone System" screen that comes up, edit the "Radio ID Code" on the right.
  21. I need to sand and paint the base of my UT-72. But it's still working just fine.
  22. @DeuceoneRadio great job on the research. I guess I have a little different philosophy on continuous power to the radio. I don't do it much, but sometimes I reach in the truck and turn on the radio briefly. I don't feel like pulling the keys out just for that. Maybe I'm just lazy.
  23. You left the "sh" off.
  24. It is the recommended method for any mobile two-way radio. Not enough to matter. Why?
