  1. @WRPG517 are you trying to edit the TX field?
  2. You shouldn't have to do this but you can fix this as follows: 1) Click on the >> to the right 2) Change the frequency in the RX and then change it right back to what it was. 3) Click on the X to close the window. The TX will not be what it is supposed to be.
  3. @warthog74 I've often wondered if using something like that spray-galv stuff would be a problem. Seems like it would with the high zinc content but I don't know since I've never tried. I doubt anyone would ever try it but still, just curious.
  4. If I had something that would transmit on that band, I would try to make it a little less dead.
  5. Voted on the first day.
  6. @WRKW566 What's that big square thing to the left?
  7. @WSBS425 Do you just need an example or are you looking for one that has the repeaters in your area?
  8. Sounds like the night of the local highschool football rival game.
  9. @dosw Are there any similar units that can transmit without the price going through the roof? Thanks.
  10. Yes, I'm praying for a peaceful evening and following days/weeks etc.
  11. @WRKE629 I don't have Midland radios myself because I keep seeing mixed reviews. You may want to consider a different brand with more consistently good reviews like Wouxun.
  12. Some how I missed something. Where does he have his antenna?
  13. Interesting, I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up.
  14. There was one guy that received a letter from the FCC that listed four violations. The last one was for using a non-type certified radio. That is not the reason he was investigated. They showed up because he was jamming a repeater. While they were there, they noticed he did it with a non-type certified radio and just threw that in for good measure. To my knowledge, that is the only time it has ever shown up on a letter and, like I said, that was not why they showed up at his house.
  15. Yep, sometimes people just start pushing buttons to see what will happen.

    GRMS Needed?

The op seems like nothing more than a troll to me.
  17. @WSFP451 welcome. In the case of shtf, repeaters likely won't be available. At least not for long. After hurricane Berl, my favorite ham repeater was down but fortunately my second favorite one was still up as well as my favorite GMRS repeater. Any way, in the case of shtf, try to keep your loved ones close enough for simplex if you can. The shorter distance will also help you get to them quickly if need be.
  18. It's always a good idea to learn and practice things like this. I don't have the book but I have military experience.
  19. Yes, that too.
  20. I'm starting to think this one is the UV-5R of mobile radios. It's popularity is quite impressive.
  21. Ok, I like that idea.

    UV-5R vs UV-5G

That sounds like a perfect use case for GMRS.
  23. Just don't use your hair dryer in the bathtub.
  24. A very wise man once said "Watch and see who the media attacks the most. That's the one who should actually be president." He said that because that is the one outside the "establishment."
