I took my UV-5R8W and stuck the antenna up my right nostril, pushed the PTT button, and blew my brains out my left ear.
    I got better.

It can sometimes take a few days for the data to update from the FCC database to the myGMRS.com database.

Found that the ones I have put out about 2W.  Very compact and slip in a pocket easily.  Even tested with the earpieces and really no complaints.

These would be the radios I hand out for people who might be intimidated with too many options.  At the price I bought them I’m not worried if they get lost.

You won’t find an American made GMRS radio.
The pagers and radios issued to Hezbollah didn’t explode merely because they were made in China. In fact if they were really Icom radios they would have been made in Japan. If they were counterfeit I don’t know where they were made.
It appears that someone intercepted the pagers and radios at some point after they were made but before they were delivered to Hezbollah and inserted explosives. Unless you’ve come to the negative attention of the Israeli intelligence forces I doubt you’ll have explosives in your radio.

    Welcome to the forums.
    * I use Safari, Chrome, Edge, and even Internet Explorer and have never stumbled across anything that failed to work.
    * I haven’t had to re-login for years.  As you say it might be browser related.
    * The repeater map only shows what repeater owners enter.  If otherwise verifiable repeaters don’t appear on the map it’s most likely because the owners didn’t add them, or you have the map set to show only active repeaters.  After a year of not being touched by the owner the status changes to outdated and they disappear from the map unless you click that characteristic.
    * I disagree about the need for moderation.  The site is moderated; it just isn’t constantly monitored.  If something is too reprehensible or violates the rules we report it and Rich moderates. Although there are occasional disputes, we know how to report them, ignore them, or walk away.
    Again, welcome!

With the power off, hold down the V/M key and turn the power on and let me know which version firmware is installed.
Here is my earlier post solving the Windows 10 problem with the CH340 install software that now also works with Windows 11.  I obtained the "Anytone 2023 USB driver.zip" software from a retailer who sells the DB20-G clone, the Anytone AT-779UV and it is linked at the bottom of my old post (it works with both my Radioddity DB20-G and my Anytone AT-779UV):
Even though you have attempted to install the CH340 before, I suggest you uninstall the CH343 driver and use the linked software to install and try out the CH340 driver again.  I think we are getting close...

Yes. The repeater has an awesome antenna at an elevation that provides near perfect line of sight to your radio's minimal-value rubber ducky antenna.
Your friends within 1/2 miles are not "line of sight" to your antenna; there could be trees attenuating signal, buildings, hills, and other obstacles blocking your antennas.

If you can see the other antenna, you can talk. If you cannot, all bets are off. The repeater must have a high gain antenna, may be outputting near 50w into the feed line, with high quality cable, the antenna may be on a tower, and it may be up above obstacles. Probably all of these things are happening.
By way of example, a 70cm ham radio (UHF, very similar to GMRS) can transmit to the ISS (250 miles away) with a Yagi antenna pointing in the right direction, and with less than 5w output. On the other hand, two 5w handhelds may not be able to communicate with each other more than a few hundred feet away. The difference is almost always line of sight first, antenna design second, power a distant third.

Well to a point I agree but I also disagree. We ran into issues in the past with HAMS who wanted to help with SAR. In the end we had to rescue a HAM from the field which took resources away from the actual incident. Regardless if its urban SAR or wildland its not always walking down the yellow brick road. The area this incdient is taking place in is rough when its not destroyed. Its worse now. Im not saying hams are useless but know the limitations. And if groups work with local resources ahead of an event its simpler and more effective. There are reasons RACES and other groups are asking for folks to take ICS and other class's. I've been a ham for over a 1/4 century but none of that that got me into more public safety and even carreer stuff. Its a great tool in the tool box.

It's a common attitude with emergency workers.  I had the same experience in my home county in SC.  They think citizen volunteers are more trouble than they're worth.  We are only good enough to help if we take the training courses and are members of one of the relevant organizations.  I think it's Federal oversight / FEMA training they go through now that teaches them that.  They claim that it's because they don't want us to get hurt or have to be rescued (which is bogus).   Even just being a ham isn't good enough for ARES anymore; you need FEMA courses and they only want people to staff the EOCs.  None of this extra super-qualification/certification/approval stuff is what ham was historically about.  If you have your ham license and a radio, you should be qualified to knock on doors etc. if you're willing to take the risk.

Don't worry about knowing about DMR or any of the other modes for the ham tests until you reach the Extra level. DMR is not an easy protocol to program as there are 3 elements to sync for every contact you want to use.

If it's a TK-3302UK radio the attached software should work. Unzip the file and copy the contents for disks 1 through 4 to an empty folder. All the files must be in that folder. Then run the "setup.exe" file to install. Use the install key found in "SeriaL.txt" file.

Programming an AT778-UV by hand is not for the faint of heart. I tried it and couldn't connect to a repeater. As far as I could tell from the menu I was doing everything right. After reading from the radio with CHIRP I could see that the channel I was programming was in cross mode. Still not sure how that happened and not going to try and find out. Just do it the easy way with CHIRP and enjoy the radio.

That could be true, I wouldn’t doubt that, but that’s not the same as they have no way to do it and just because they haven’t doesn’t make it okay if you don’t have permission. Which was my point all along, not much more to say on the subject.

"You have many other groups that used it as a money making thing. Hell before Texas did what they did they told me they had thousands in the bank. These groups charge for everything. Membership fees, advertising and fees for using there repeaters are just a few."
Not sure what he is talking about. I joined TexasGMRS.net before any of this ever happened. I've never been charged a penny, but I have access to all the repeaters.
