  1. if it was 16.5 I would say don't use it.14.5 isn't out that much I just don't think it will provide enough current to run the TX side. those old RS unit were only rated at 1.5 or 3 amps IIRC
  2. have you established that you can make the repeater w/another radio have you listened to the 467 side w/another radio and have you check the rx side w/another radio. If that was all done couple of things come to mind recheck programing, bad antenna. also check the TX power. if using DPL make sure its not inverted(programing).
  3. Kenwood look at TK 3180,3160 and 8150, 8180 software is easy and access to it just as easy and cables can be had on flea bay

  5. wet and/or damaged
  6. I have been using this for yrs. some things to keep in mind. gain is in dBi subtract 2.1 dB if antenna is rated in dBd. line loss , don't forget the insertion loss of your duplexer typically .5dB-1.5 dB on average. now the "required reliability" can change the map dramatically. I find that 85% works well in most applications. JE

yeah its IDing every 15 on the quarter and sound like its back to full power. It sounds different than it use to though, might be a "new"machine. will have to DF and see if its still in the same place.
  8. @ 75' 1/2" hard line or Superflex would be more that sufficient as its a base. if it was a repeater I would go 7/8.
  9. you would be surprised at how many inverse DPL's correlate to a regular DPL and work, if you have the right equipment. just sayin'
  10. have several 8180's. if you can get an 8180H (40W) that would be my choice.
  11. as marc mentioned never let them see you sweat. (TOT) time out timer, my machines are set to 3min split PL's and never make them public. a machine you can remotely control over the air, second input or LAN/wire line. there are other alternatives like LTR controllers but that limits who can use the machine. on that note I've had my share of people who jam/have no respect for the time effort and $$$$ that goes into running a machine.
  12. definitely much easier than M
  13. there are other methods to achieve this w/o resorting to moving the splits.
  14. 4 cars w/mostly Kenwood 8180's 1 CDM and 2 XPR's mixed use commercial LMR, GMRS and ham.
  15. At the risk of sounding arrogant. I've said this before and will re post it again

  17. 455 super stationmaster https://dcf54aygx3v5e.cloudfront.net/fac7232f-1b5f-434c-ba49-99be850a5a91/224caefc-f327-4032-994a-198cbba365e5.pdf 1151 super stationmaster https://dcf54aygx3v5e.cloudfront.net/fac7232f-1b5f-434c-ba49-99be850a5a91/ff41de9d-b374-4bc3-b993-2608fb4a4548.pdf Comm scope DB420 https://www.commscope.com/product-type/antennas/base-station-antennas-equipment/base-station-antennas/itemdb420-b/ these are large (heavy) very high gain antennas. I strongly recommend professional installation. the 404 or 408 as recommended above should be more than adequate. in the "smaller" super stationmaster option would be the 1150 https://dcf54aygx3v5e.cloudfront.net/fac7232f-1b5f-434c-ba49-99be850a5a91/77717898-351e-4ca2-a80f-4dfb99e58e7c.pdf given your proximity to Philly and Trenton my recommendation is to get a 5-6 dB lightweight antenna on a 10' mast and you should be good to go. 18. I have no complaints. No it not tunable but typical BW is 20Mc and perform like a unity whip IMO. If you're going to put them on a roof make sure it fits between the "ribs" first. have had a few problems in the PS arena where they wanted those and they don't fit b/c of the roof design. JE
  19. yeah, it needs to be tuned properly in the program tab there is read, write and test mode. test mode is where the tuning is done. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TUNE W/O THE PROPER EQUIPMENT here is the service manual http://www.repeater-builder.com/kenwood/pdfs/tk-8180-svc-man-suppl.pdf
  20. thanks Rich , I'll have to change that.
  21. it also applies to the RX side, also known as open channel.
  22. as a general rule I keep the mid town machine private. Have had too many problems opening it up to the general public. I keep it listed as a matter of coordination now b/c there is no option to list it as closed /private to the general public. since it seem like you have a little height and are on the east side I will PM you the info for the Brooklyn machine as well as an SI machine I know to be open. JE
  23. sound like it is need of some tuning or its in CSQ
  24. have been using the AS mosaic 5db antennas for the better part of35 yrs recently been using a Laird 5db w/good results and also a Larsen "pancake" unity antenna https://productfinder.pulseeng.com/product/LP450NMO https://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=asp76551
  25. also in the 8180 program edit-options-common page 1 there is a setting for mic sensitivity, normal or high. I generally set this to normal unless the operator has a small voice. not too sure on the 8360 but go through the edit options thoroughly.
