  1. If you do that it makes sense to list your repeater as a "Permission only" Also as to lessen any confusion if you want people to find your tones just post them so there's no confusion. That's just my 2 cents worth.
  2. Here in California, I hear the Urban Search and Rescue units in the county uses CH3 151.940 for their training. It's amazing how they coordinate the units for the exercise.
  3. That wouldn't be a bad idea.
  4. Ok you do that what happens to the other honest people who uses your repeater what about them? You shut them off the repeater use because of a few bad apples who abuses the use of the repeater you wound up losing people to other repeaters in the area. However, after saying that since you're the owner of the repeater you can do whatever you want to your own machine.
  5. When I heard that the FCC was going to let FRS share the frequency with GMRS I wasn't happy with the Idea of channel sharing, but I decided what's done is done until the FCC approved the power change from 1/2 watt to 2 watts. I didn't understand the reasoning for that, and I knew when they did that all heck would break loose and here it is.
  6. That's exactly what I say if you can stay on your own band, it will save a lot of us GMRS user headaches.
  7. It's happening to me also. On GMRS 22 (.725). On Tuesday nights we will have a net here and the unknown station will key up and start interfering with the rollcall. On several occasions the person/persons will dead keys for the duration of the net, and I hear their carrier over the station trying to check in. I got to a point where I actually told the station where I was and when I did the station stopped transmitting. Apparently, the person listening lived near me, I did see some kids with radios in hand was running into a house across the street. Now that I know who's throwing dead carriers I know where to look.
  8. Oh please don't give them any more reasons to change more rules please
  9. What's the difference between the TK880 and the TK8160? I have the 8160 as a base, and I'm happy with it.

GMRS 21? a shared frequency? I don't think they are using FRS I don't normally pick up FRS traffic. But the station was heard while I was talking to someone on the repeater side. And like I said I had my received tone squelch on and I still heard their signal through the repeater.

No callsign heard just conversation between manager and security staff.
  13. Is it legal for businesses to use the simplex side of a GMRS frequency to conduct their business? I hear a lost prevention department from a store using GMRS ch21 (467.700(?))not sure which store it's from e every time when I talk to someone on the repeater side I hear other traffic in there that I know is from simplex because I have another radio monitoring the same frequency but without the tones. And it interferes with the repeater traffic every time when I try to talk to someone I hear another station in there. And I do have my received tones on.
  14. Not all repeater range on mygmrs repeater listing is correct just f y I to all it's up to the repeater owners to list the correct range of their repeaters and not all of them do that. Sent from my Z5156CC using Tapatalk
  15. That's what I have on my TK3180. Sent from my Z5156CC using Tapatalk
  16. I would check mygmrs.com to see if you have repeaters in your local area. To answer your question on wither gmrs dying off in your area is open for interpretation
  17. I do both. But I'm primarily on repeater. The main reason I'm on repeater is for distance communications and simplex for local traffic within one or two miles from my location.
  18. By FCC rules you need to indentify your station every 15 minutes when you have a QSO and as you said to end your conversation and sign out too. Sent from my Z5156CC using Tapatalk
  19. Depends on how much power you put into it. Sent from my Z5156CC using Tapatalk
  20. Well that sucks cause my license don't expire until 2028. I really wished they did this earlier
  21. Hi I wouldn't know what brand meter that youll be needing so I would recommend either looking on eBay or Amazon. Hopefully there you'll be able to find what you need.
  22. It depends on which repeater you want to listen to 550 is on 462.550 and that is channel 15 each different repeater has different ctcss tones you got to look up the name of the repeater and find out the tones
  23. What location are you in and what frequency that the interference is on? And you are correct in saying that this incident has criminal intent. Just let your daughter know if that person comes on the air again and ask her personal question that she do not talk to that person. Recording is a good idea but whoever the person is may not be in one location and may be moving around so that he cannot be traced exactly where he's at. I would just notified the local authorities and let them know what has been going on. And inform the FCC of your current situation. Other than that I cannot give you any suggestions on what to do I wish I can do more
  24. I'm not sure what you mean by tone in and out? Sent from my Z5156CC using Tapatalk
  25. I'm aware you said simplex is not allowed may I ask why?
