    That wont really eliminate the problem, but it will postpone the problem until the jammer gets an MDC compatible radio and the associated CPS OR until he figures out how to jam the input..

    Not long ago I tested a few antennas against the Midland Ghost antenna and it performed better than the Nagoya UT-72G .. and ALMOST as good as the Midland MXTA26..

    I have used/tested one - it seems like a decent, low-cost radio.. Its not the best/greatest world, but for only $150, you can't go too wrong.. A friend of mine has been using one for over a year and it is honestly one of the best-sounding radios I've heard - he sounds great on his.. It has great modulation/volume but is not over-modulated and it sounds very clean and clear.

    The answer is: Based on the FCC's enforcement record of the last 12 years, nothing will happen. Of course, that could change tomorrow, but as of today, thems is the facts.

    That sounds serious! So.. what happens if someone isn't licensed or they offer items for sale?

    If the radio isn't transmitting at least 1 or 2 watts, the Surecom wont see it.. Either it's not transmitting, its transmitting very low power, or as @SteveShannon said, there is a problem with the connection.

    Yes.. AND... Even if you accidentally hit the PTT button without the antenna connected, the radio will be fine.. AND... Even if you accidentally hold-down the PTT button for a few minutes without the antenna connected, the radio will be fine - doing this is not recommended, but contrary to what "some people" will tell you lies about, nothing will happen other than heating up the innards.

    Dont be silly! @WSAE603 - you should make a new forum topic post, asking about the best way to go about linking GMRS radios/repeaters via Asterisk - I think it would be a great discussion topic and a great way for people to learn and discuss new ideas.

    If you consider how many people the FCC has gone after for "illegally" sharing a GMRS callsign, or, how many GMRS users the FCC has gone after for.. anything... You might find a little "wiggle room" .. But if you're worried about it after doing your research, you could just have the non-licensed members use FRS radios and the licensed members use GMRS radios.. That is, assuming they don't need to use a repeater.

    Of course, I know-not of any of the details, but it could just be a bot/scraper gone rogue/out of control - very common and often confuckulated as an attack - with the same end result. OTOH, it could be the sad-H.A.M. cartel .... SOURCE: Have run a dozen or so of my own websites and owned a small web-hosting company for 10+ years.

    Per FCC rule, mobile GMRS radios are not permitted to transmit on channels 8 thru 14. ..and IIRC, the 50v2 is locked so that it can only transmit on GMRS channels - however you can setup additional GMRS repeaters and custom GMRS channels with tones, and save them as custom channels.

    No, it has not, and never has been "illegal".. It violates the FCC rules, which are not laws and are not subject to criminal prosecution. Please take a moment to learn the difference between RULES and LAWS... I know this is a pedantic point to make, but if I've learned anything from you, it is that being pedantic is very very important..
