Maybe i'm missing it in your screenshots - is the offset correctly set at +5Mhz? If the offset is correct but its still calculating it wrong/you can't manually fix it, then box that junk up and send it back to Amazon and get your money back - you've already wasted more time on it than its worth.

Generally, no, especially if the tones are posted in the listing. OTOH, it does not hurt to request access... OTOOH, you could just start using it and if the repeater-owner asks you to stop, then, stop.

Yes, i've seen this multiple times with a couple of different manufacturers. You can try a factory-reset, but in most cases that just puts it back the same way because its burned-in to the chips wrong. Manually changing the frequencies is probably going to be your ultimate fix.

Thanks for trying, but this is incorrect. GMRS/the FCC rules fully support "i" or inverted DCS/DTC/DPL tones. In a case where N or "i" is not specified, it can always be assumed to be "N" (Normal).

The reason the antenna is fixed on the Q10G is not because it has a GPS, but because it can SEND its GPS location in the form of a digital data transmission. So, per the rule you quoted, it must have a non-removable antenna - which means you cannot connect it to a giant antenna on your roof and blast the very annoying digital-signal-noise for miles in every direction. The 935G, like 99% of all other GMRS radios, does not/cannot send digital data transmissions, so it can have a removable antenna. There is also a rule buried in the FCCs rule book about certain transmission specifications must be met (ie the radio must have 'clean signals') in order to have a removable antenna, so a few (VERY few) low-end GMRS radios also have non-removable antennas because of this.

Are THEY on a repeater? Do you have that specific repeater programmed into the radio with the correct tones? Are you on the correct channel for that specific repeater?

Have you tried comparing your FRS radios to the Baofengs, in the exact same cars with the exact same people at the exact same time, just to ensure you are actually getting a full apple-to-apple comparison?

Maybe if you told us what kind of radio you have... and..maybe.. if you told us what steps you are taking.. and.. MAYBEEE.. if you told us what exactly is not working..or what happens.. or really, any detail at all.. .. then.. maybe.. just maybe.. someone could help.. But otherwise, welcome to the forum!

Why would you care what they say? Just tell them that its an iCom and they'll say it sounds great.

All you are going to get is people re-enforcing their opinion that whatever they bought is the best.. and, you will get one that will say "brand X is junk and everybody i know that ever had one returned it or threw it away"...You can ignore him because we are all pretty sure that he is rhee-tarh-ded.. Tell us what is important to you in a radio and you will likely get some better recommendations ..

to answer the actual question: My favorite antenna, and the antenna that I have on both of my jeeps and as the "in the window" antenna for my office-radio, is the Midland MXTA26 .. it's not a mag-mount, but it is an NMO mount, but you can buy a separate NMO magnetic mount for it. The range is is the same as any other GMRS antenna (except that UT-72G) but I chose it because the "twist" on the antenna makes it a few inches shorter than all other 5/8 wave (or whatever its wavelength is) antennas, and its flexible, which is good when i'm off-roading through trees and rocks and fat-people. Also, because it is a true GMRS antenna, no cutting/tuning is needed - just take it out of the sack and slap it on.

Geezus Phuck! Do you still not understand that unless his antenna is 2 feet from your antenna, YOUR range has nothing to do with HIS range? Of all the testing I have done of antennas (and that is a LOT of antennas), my UT-72G performs the worst - even worse than the little "ghost" antennas.

Try a full-reset of the radio. If that does not work, call BuyTwoWayRadios and tell them to send you a new one that works.

RX = Receive TX = Transmit CCR is a derogatory and racially motived term that "some people" use when describing a radio that does everything their very expensive radio does, but it costs 10X less monies.

If you had any actual understanding of how radio waves work and how not everybody lives in the same place as you do/everyone has different geographic constraints, you would understand how utterly ree-tahr-ded you just made yourself look.
