  1. Correction: Unhealthy and bizarre obsession and fixation against linked repeaters
  2. There are a few places that I can hit on my base-station that defy all the laws of line-of-sight and I still can't figure out how I can talk to them.. One being on the other side of a 5,000ft mounting. But the other 99.8% is def. line of sight.
  3. Good luck with that.. You're going to need it.
  4. You *might* have a bad programming cable, but it could just be a "driver issue" with Windows. If that is the case, may Xenu have mercy on your soul.. What version of the Windows are you running?
  5. It just seems that many of them display it a lot better (and more often) than normal people.
  6. Yah, but none of the other kids' TD-H3s follow that rule, so he just wants to play along like all the other kid's radios let THEM do it!
  7. Yup! That's about the same as what I get.. Those small duplexers kill a lot of the RF electricities.
  8. There is a free version of the app.that lets you voice-chat with anonymous men anywhere in the world. Some repeaters are also connected to Zello so you can listen and talk on them via the app on your phone.
  9. i string it through the top of the window section. In the lower door section it might pinch.
  10. Have you tried it to see how much pinch you get? in all of my cars there is enough rubber wind-seal around the door that it it prevents any crushing or pinching of the coax at all... at least none that is noticeable or visible.. I guess if after some amount of time it becomes a problem, i can always invest another $29 in a new cable, but so far, i have seen no crushing/pinching/damage at all. And, although I am sure that "some people" will chime in with their theoretical thesis on how any distortion of the coax can distort the bitublar encapsulation of the protons flowing through the cable resulting in maloptimal signal conflatulation, i just remind them that I'm not bouncing my signal off the moon - i just want to talk with my friend in his car, 300 yards behind me, or hit the local repeater on the hill right above me. and then i laugh at them because i know they've never touched a boobie.
  11. There is no setting to eliminate a strong signal.. Try taking the antenna off, and see if it continues - if it goes away without the antenna, that confirms that the radio is going its job by letting you hear nearby signals, even if you dont like what that signal sounds like. If it continues with no antenna, try in a different room/house to try and narrow-down if that strong signal is coming from something like LED or florescent lights, your computer, or some other nearby spurious-RF-generator.. If it happens all the time with no antenna, no matter where you are, then the radio might be broken and you will have to decide if it is worth the hassle of contacting BuyTwoWayRadios and asking for a replacement.
  12. You're not the boss of him.
  13. Then you have not watched any of the reviews that actually matter.
  14. I am known in my circle of friends as "The dream crusher"
  15. Yes.. TWO different cities, miles from each other.. Both were terrible and frustrating experiences and in the end, nothing was accomplished - imagine trying to deal with the biggest and worst HOA ever assembled... Hopefully YOUR town is better.
  16. Yes. Sorry..
  17. There are technical differences, but I have never observed any actual, real-world difference - in the real-world, they both do the job just fine. also, FYI, I have owned/used virtually every GMRS radio manufactured since ~2017 and I do not recall ever seeing one that does not support DPL/DTC/DCS tones. Not saying those radios do not exist, but if they do, they are very old, very rare, or, both.
  18. i just made a video about Scientology so obviously i don't care about my reputation, but I dont want another one of those electronic abortions of a repeater.
  19. I don't think so. For the monies, I would expect much higher build-quality (ie; no wobbly knobs), MUCH better software, and far more features like channels, more customization, etc. Not enough bangs for the bucks.
  20. Based on the FCC's past/current enforcement record against GMRS violators, what would you guess the FCC will decide to do?
  21. In order to get FCC Part 95 type acceptance, all GMRS radios do that. It's not 'weird', it's how it is supposed to be.
  22. That's just because you want me to respond to all the DMs that you keep sending me there, but I already told you, i'm not interested.
  23. What about when I said your beard was sexy?!
  24. Let me make this simple enough, that even you will understand it: YES - There are those that regular people refer to as "sad hams" .. this is fact, it cannot be disputed. If this fact makes you sad, and/or if you do not understand the difference between a 'sad ham', and a regular, helpful, normal-ham, then YOU ARE A SAD HAM, and YOU are who all of us normal people make fun of. and if that makes you even more sad, then, good, you deserve it. (and yes, even if you dont have a H.A.M. radio license, you can still have all the personality defects making you a latent sad-H.A.M.) As for these facts spreading out in other venues: thank you for noticing! Please continue to spread the word! If you are referring to something else, then please clarify, because as everyone knows, I love to answer stupid questions.
