  1. You mean, he can't just click the "do it the way some rando on the internet says to do it" button?
  2. Are you testing on high-power channels? Did you confirm that the radio is set to HIGH POWER for the channels you are testing? IF yes to both and you're still only getting low-power output, then the fix is to send it back and tell them to send you one that works.
  3. DPL, DTC, DTCC, and DCS are all the same thing. "N" which means "N"normal is the default for this type of tone, so it would only be "i" if specified.
  4. It is actually a very useful feature that most radios do not have.
  5. No.
  6. I only accept messages on Grindr.
  7. The GXT3000 is more for adventurers that want to stay in touch with their group - It is not a "radio dork" radio. Very similar to the bubble-wrap type radios you get at Walmart - just a more expensive GMRS version. Source: I have a pair
  8. 99.9% of all GMRS hand-held radios have removable antennas - if you are even thinking/wondering/considering ever wanting to replace/attach another antenna, then a radio with a permanent antenna is probably not a good choice.
  9. Bear in mind that the majority of Amazon reviews are from regular people, whereas if you look in online radio forums, youtube reviews by "radio experts", etc, they will have very different views, based on stuff that normal people never think about/don't care about.
  10. All of the hand-held GMRS radios have virtually the exact same range. "easily programmable" is a subjective term, and really can't be quantified (easy for me might be much confusing for you), and most of the sub $100 radios are, in one way or another going to be considered 'junk' by someone.. Here is what I recommend: Pick & purchase a radio that does not cost too much, that has what you THINK you want, and see how it feels.. then, after a while, if you think it is lacking for your needs after using it, you can grow into something else.. What i am saying to you is, nobody here is going to be able to tel you which radio is best for you.. Best case scenario is they just regurgitate what is or is not best for THEM.. Worst case they, go off on a tangent about how "every one of brand-X radios i have ever had is junk and everybody i know returned theirs" or "if you link your GMRS repeaters the FCC will come after you because I have secret inside information that I dream up in my overly-active imagination" ..
  11. maybe if you tell us how you define "good" we can help. What is important to you in a radio?
  12. Why do you care, and what business is that of yours?
  13. You would have to add it as "the owner", which "some people" or even the actual owner might not like.. So while it is possible, it is not advisable.
  14. Sorry, but, wrong, or, at best "not necessarily correct".. My antenna is also mounted where "it will not work", and yet I talk on simplex with people 20+ miles away and have used it to hit a repeater 93 miles away.
  15. I can hit a repeater 70 miles away because I have good line of sight to it. I have another repeater 2 miles from me that I can't hit, because it is not in my line of sight.. So the answer is "it depends"
  16. Yes, I have done it with multiple MXT575s and they all work fine. If it's not working then you are either out of range, or you are doing it wrong.. Drive closer and try again.
  17. Its sad that so many on this forum are so predictable that this is necessary... Hopefully this serves as a wakeup call for "some people"....
  18. On a brand-new battery? Not saying you are wrong, just asking how probable that is on a new battery?
  19. This ^ is actually the correct answer..
  20. Its one of the hazards of the job.. You should see how it looks after we get one of our many moderate So.Cal earthquakes..
  21. Being a YouTubes superstar and maintaining the world's largest Jenga-Wall-Of-Radios is a big responsibility.
  22. That just means that they are really serious about the temper-tantrum they are throwing in the cereal-isle of the grocery store...
  23. No, and upon further review, I think the number/ratio is even lower. Right now, as I sit here still drinking my coffee, only the TD H3 GMRS comes to mind - but the sleep-fog is still thick. I'm not saying that you are wrong, or making things up, but have you actually done this?
  24. My thought is you should send it back and tell them to send you one that works.
  25. *stares at ~55 of my ~60 GMRS radios that cannot be unlocked....
