  1. How far apart are the two radios from each other when you are testing?
  2. The Sad-H.A.M. gene often presents itself as someone that loves to talk for no other reason than just hearing themself talk. Sometimes called "long talkers", they just.. talk.. and keep talking. When a person presenting this gene is on a GMRS repeater they have either been rejected by their own kind, they are trying to disguise themselves as normal people, or they are simply "latent Sad-H.A.M.s". 3. That's how you can tell its an echo-chamber. Anyway - back on topic: On MY repeater, and the club-repeater that we used to have, we had ONE rule: NO discussion of religion or politics. The reason is because everyone knows that nothing good can ever come of it - NOBODY's mind will suddenly be changed, and generally (99% of the time) it just degenerates into name calling/anger/stupidity/ranting - 100% of the time nothing constructive comes out of it. On my repeater when this occurs the repeater gets put into what we call "F-Off mode" - which is a nice way of saying it gets remotely powered-off.
  4. They are obviously very fiscally responsible and realized that the Baofeng does everything they need at an excellent price-point and it would be foolish to spend more money for something with less capabilities..
  5. Make sure the mics are plugged in all the way - when you think its plugged in all the way, push even harder. IF after ensuring that they are plugged-in all the way, they are still not working, then my guess is they are either not compatible or defective.
  6. He can't find his way back to the forum..
  7. I assume you mean the dummy load AND your power meter? or are you relying on what the internal meter of the radio says (if it has one?)
  8. You should hook up your power meter to see if anything is coming out of the radio, and how much.
  9. I am trying to make a determination between the radio transmitting, but with no audio, and the radio not transmitting at all - and you still have not confirmed which is occurring. These are two very different things with two very different causes. Please answer either #1 or #2 Answer number one: the guys at the other end are receiving a signal when I transmit, but with no voice Answer number two: the guys at the other end are not receiving any transmission/signal at all.
  10. Ok - so, just to confirm. other radios are picking up the signal, correct? So you know that the radio is transmitting?
  11. are you transmitting, but with no audio, or are you not even transmitting?
  12. FYI - Several Retevis radios ship from the factory with tones pre-loaded on every channel. Glad you got it figured out though.
  13. My money is on a tone being stored on the channel.
  14. Make sure they are all on the same frequency Make sure they are all on regular simplex channels, not repeater channels and/or do not have a +/- split Make sure none of the radios are using any CTC/CTCSS/DTC/DPL tones or codes Make sure the radios are at least 50 feet apart from each other when testing
  15. He's a clown that does not know what he's talking about and a shill that only says what his Chinese handlers tell him to say. I saw a licensed H.A.M. radio operator proclaim all this right here in this forum so it must be true because the guy had a license!
  16. For clarification: There is no such thing as a "digital frequency" - frequencies are just frequencies. The TD-H3 can receive any frequency (within its range) but if someone is transmitting P25 or any digital protocol (NXDN, DMR, AOL), all you will hear is digital-machinegun noises because the TDH3 will not be able to decode any of it.
  17. He never told you to buy a Kenwood!
  18. no, the radio i'm talking about was designed and sold by guys definitely not in the U.S.
  19. I'm testing a new radio right now that lists the repeaters on channels 45 - 52 ... .I dont know what they were thinking...
  20. it wasn't about your kid, it was about you. It was about me starting to feel bad about arguing with you because all you do is make yourself look like a fool, and it's too easy to make fun of you.
  21. I was going to respond, but its starting to feel like i'm bullying the kid in the wheelchair at school.
  22. Non-boolickers say they don't care what regulations say.
