  1. More proof that "some people" should be ignored with extreme prejudice.
  2. Could be any number of aBazillion reasons, but based on all the details you have provided I am guessing that you are hearing a repeater, but trying to talk back on a simplex channel instead of the repeater channel.
  3. I was going to suggest a Motorola XTS 3000 or 5000 and the XTL-5000, but then you had to throw in the "easy to acquire the software" part.. So, stay way from the XTS and XTLs... But I'm really just here waiting for "some people" to proclaim that you will get a $10,000 fine if you even think about using a commercial radio on the GMRS.
  4. You will never get any programming software to run on that iPad.. Just set aside an hour of your life and get familiar with how the menus work. Real men program their radios via the keypad, the old fashioned way! ...although you might check to see if any of those new Bluetooth radio-programming dongles are compatible with the GM-15Pro.. that software should run on your iPad (but confirm before buying one).
  5. Wait, did he say something to me that I missed?
  6. You must be new to the exciting and dynamic radio world where dorks think they know everything... You will quickly learn to laugh at and then ignore "some people".. Or just make fun of them like everyone else in their lives do.
  7. I have created a custom "Learn GMRS With The NotARubcion" GPT on OpenAI. If you have access to ChatGPT4 / Are a ChatGPT Plus user you can access this custom GPT here: https://chat.openai.com/g/g-lltaQJ8ro-learn-gmrs-with-the-notarubicon The idea is that you can ask it any questions about GMRS and you will get the kind of answers that only The Notarubicon would give - so if you want to learn about GMRS, or if you just want a new buddy to chit-chat with, feel free to give it a try. If you run into any problems, or if the AI version of me gets something wrong, leave a comment here and let me know.
  8. I recommend you try it. I have used other emulation solutions and they were all far too fiddly and a PITA, but Parallels made the entire process so easy, painless, and idiot-proof I was very impressed and ended up buying it and finding other reasons to use Windows programs on my Mac.
  9. It had a free 30 day trial when I first started using it.. Might want to check to see if they still offer that - you only need it for 29 days to program your radio!
  10. FYI - You can use Parallels to run the software on your Mac. I avoided using it for years, but it they make it so easy, its really a no-brainer (other than the cost$)
  11. What has Talkpod support had to say about all this? Surely you contacted support for help?
  12. Here, I'll just get it over with: You will get a $250,000 fine AND go to jail!!
  13. I use my KG-1000G+ in a Hardened Power Systems/Midland MXPW500 with a 10Ah LiFePo battery and it lasts for days, transmitting and receiving.. I usually use it on Low/Mid power, but it works fine (just not as long) at high power.
  14. Both radios are working exactly as they are supposed to. Any GMRS repeater must have, by definition, a +5 offset. If it does not have a +5 offset then it is not a GMRS repeater and the radios will not allow you to transmit on them. And, the radios will not allow you to transmit on anything that is not a pre-set GMRS channel/frequency, which explains why you cant transmit on a 467 frequency with a +5 offset. It sounds like you bought the wrong radios for your needs..Or, you are really, really confuckulated. Edit: IIRC some of the A36 GMRS radios shipped with the wrong offset. .that is on them, but you should be able to easily change it to +5 from a 462. channel.. I was able to do that with mine, no problem. But you would be within your rights to send it back and ask for a refund as it does not work as it should, as defined by the FCCs and according to the radio's documentation.
  15. I use mine for off-roading.. any time I want to "make contacts" and find anonymous men to talk with, I use the Grindr app.
  16. Press the button.. WAIT.. then talk.. See if that helps.. If not, go outside or seek higher ground and try again.
  17. When you say you "cannot transmit", does that mean you get an error, or the transmit light on the radio does not light up? Or does this mean you cant hit the repeater? If it's transmitting but not hitting the repeater, how are you testing/how do you know you're not hitting it?
  18. If I am going to waste my very valuable time dreaming and fantasizing, I prefer to do it over something that matters.. Like Taylor Swift washing my dishes while wearing a Minnie-Mouse costume.
  19. Open usually means "open to use", so it should be fine to use. If it's not, the worst that will happen is the owner or someone that thinks they are in charge will ask/tell you to stop using it.
  20. Yes - there is a very good repeater on Indian Hill in Indio that has good coverage all the way down at least to the south end of the Sea, havnt tried it going toward Borrego but i'm sure it covers at least to Fonts - probably does not reach down beyond that because I think the hills would block it. I dont think its listed here on MYGMRS but I know the owner is here sometimes so maybe he can share the tones with you. There is also a new repeater on Belle Mountain in Joshua Tree that *might* have some coverage down to the Sea - but I havnt tried it down there yet.
  21. My suggestion is to check the listings/map here and try all the ones near you to see which ones work best for your particular, specific location.
  22. i started fresh, using the Ham Registry address for both the FRN and the license application.
  23. You need to be in Dealer Mode with the -d switch.. Try that, and if you get errors, tell us what the errors say.
