  1. No.. I'm running Win 11 for ARM through Parallels and its working with com-ports just fine.. A few very old programs have issues, but most work fine.
  2. What a sad life you must have.
  3. Coincidentally a very common trait of "some people"....
  4. Of course you have... And here i've owned probably 2 dozen Wouxuns and have at least 50 friends/acquaintances that have them, usually based on my recommendation, and here i've never seen one DOA.. I guess i'm doing it wrong. Willie: Call BuyTwoWayRadios on Monday and tell them to send you a new one.
  5. There was no "BS" in that post. I answered the question. If the answer made you sad, that is a you problem.
  6. The best GMRS channel to monitor is the one in your local area that has the most traffic to monitor. But: If you got a GMRS radio to monitor/listen to people talk or to find anonymous men to chat with, you bought the wrong radio. Using the Grindr app might be a better choice for you.
  7. You're already over-complicating it and doing it wrong.. GMRS is not for "making contacts" - GMRS if for staying in contact with your group/friends/family while off-roading, caravanning, hiking, etc. For testing, the best thing to do is to get one of those friend/family on another radio and do some range-testing just to make sure everything is working. Also, FYI - I have tested the UV-72g and in all of my testing it is not a great antenna - it has been the worst performing of all the mobile antennas I have tested (I have tested a lot of mobile antennas) with noticeable and measurable deficiencies when compared to other antennas... I prefer (and recommend) the MXTA26 which is what I use on both of my Jeeps.. But that is just my personal preference based on size and performance, so take it with a bag of salt.
  8. Based on my understanding, they can only do this after they have observed, identified, and fingerprinted the radio.. They cannot tell anything about a fresh, out-of-the-box, never before surveilled radio.
  9. Just for clarification - According to the FCC's own records & data, 99.99999% of people doing it in the last 15 years "get away with it", and 99.9999% of people also over wattage, have also gotten away with it.
  10. FWIW, I have a buddy that bought one that was a dud (probably fake) - measured 99.9SWR/dead short.. they sent him a new one, no questions asked.. it was also a dead-short dud... But I've had a few that worked just fine.
  11. My comment was a bit of an "inside comment".. iYKYK ....
  12. Everyone I know that has had that antenna has thrown theirs straight into the trash.
  13. Have you been diagnosed? Or, has nobody pointed it out to you yet?
  14. You're all a bunch of radio AND internet dorks.
  15. I prefer the 5W when we are off-roading but my wife uses the Mountain Radio. For when we are out of the Jeeps and within 1/2 mile or so of each other it works fine.. But as we get further from each other/around bends/etc, the extra couple of watts on the 5W feels better. Either would probably do the job just fine for what you want.
  16. I have tested and used both of the Rocky Talkie radios and can confirm that they are indeed very rugged and very simple to use. I used to use a Motorola XTS2500 as my off-roading handheld but have now switched to the Rocky Talkie 5W radio because it is smaller, lighter and far more simple to use. and it has pretty much the same farz for local (within 1mile) comms. The silly little (very strong/rugged) umbilical cable that comes with the 5W has also prevented me from dropping/losing the radio multiple times.
  17. This is a very good alternate method in the event that the OP cannot figure out how to fix the settings on his device.
  18. I'm surprised you didnt "throw it into the trash" like you and "everyone you know" does with all their other sub-perfect radios.
  19. And if you are using a Mac, it is in pretty much the same place.
  20. Have you enabled access to your location from your web-browser/computer?
  21. I bet you don't make many friends in real-life either, do you?
  22. "Some people" love to spend other people's money and "some people" are incapable of understanding the difference between some guy putting up a hobby radio antenna and a professional-radio station antenna. LMR400 will work just fine - it is not perfect, but the perfection-per-dollar ratio is plenty high enough for regular people.
  23. Your pizza pan will work just fine.
  24. I TRIED to warn you! *Their.. .and.. Do you seriously think anyone came here to find out what you would do?
  25. OVERLORDS, not gods...
