  1. OMFG, I would PAY to see how that plays out! OMG, OMG, what if EVERYBODY started to do that?!
  2. No silly! Everyone knows that an ASL image is a picture of yourself that you send to anonymous men to indicate your AGE, SEX, and LOCATION! You probably know it better as a "QSL card" ..
  3. After getting license, what should I do? -- Start talking with your friends Can I buy GMRS trancsiever? -- You always could, anyone can. Please let me know how to use my call sign?-- Press the talk button, say your callsign in plain, normal-person english, then start talking Should I say my GMRS callsign when I talk by transceiver like radio amateur? -- Give your callsign at the beginning of your transmissions or at least once every 15 minutes Please let me know the process after getting license. -- The process is: start talking to your friends on your radio
  4. If you care about following the FCCs rules, then your unlicensed friends would still need a license to use your GMRS Pro radios. But since the FCCs doesn't care, neither do most people.
  5. I've done ok.. PS: I have never owned a Kenwood radio in my life.
  6. If you pull that sadhamkrap in these parts you will get laughed off the repeater.
  7. A great feature of this software and this repeater is that to use narrow-band, you have to set your computer to a date several years prior to 2013... You're doing it right.
  8. They don't sell the ground-plate with the SW102 anymore because it doesn't do any good. With that meter (most meters) you will never get an accurate reading of an HT antenna even with the ground plate. I recommend not wasting your time and not trying to overthink it.
  9. I am running CE27 V1.08 for Windows on a Windows 10 Home (22H2) .. I have it set to run in "Windows 7" Compatibility mode and it runs fine. I am also running the same version on a M1 Silicon Mac, via Parallels running Windows 11 for ARM (64Bit), with no problems EXCEPT i can't connect/program the repeater due to driver issues with the cable and Windows 11.
  10. As the esteemed gentleman from the California Central Coast ( @WRUU653 ) pointed out: I never contradict myself. Had you been paying attention you should understand that GMRS Channel 16 is for OFF ROAD as proven by the mathematical formula (4 X 4 = 16), and the OP is asking about the official HIGHWAY channel.. A highway is a road, and off-road is not a highway. Do better next time.
  11. After you install the software, you should have an icon on your home-screen and/or START menu.. You set the compatibility options by changing the properties of that icon.
  12. Have you tried running it in the various different compatibility modes? - I don't remember how I am running it, and i'm too busy typing right now to get up and look.
  13. It has been universally agreed to by some, and decreed by the Queen of all that is GMRS that channel 19 shall be the unofficial Official Road Channel for GMRS. So it is written, so shall it be done... Bear in mind that "some people" will vehemently disagree and argue to the death against this, but just remember that they are wrong.
  14. Maybe DMR, maybe P25, maybe some other kind of digital protocol...
  15. Yes, I have several recommendations.
  16. It is important to point out that the rules posted by the esteemed Mr. @SteveShannon above, apply ONLY to FCCs part 95 Approved "GMRS" radios. Because the UV-82 is not an FCC Part-95 Approved GMRS radio and is instead a H.A.M. radio, EVEN IF you have a GMRS license, you are not permitted to by the FCCs to transmit on GMRS frequencies - and it is very likely that the UV-82 will not even allow you to transmit on those frequencies. Failure to follow these rules will, per many online experts, WILL result in a $10,000 fine OR up to 10 years in prison!
  17. I ended up getting the lowest-end Dell laptop I could find and put Windows 10 on it to run my Motorola XTL/XTS and Vertex 7000 programs on it. For everything else I use CHIRP on my Mac or use the Windows versions of the radio manufacturer's programs on my Mac via Parallels and Windows 11 for ARM.
  18. After seeing this exact same post on a very large Youtuber's video about the HAG1, I decided to pull out my remaining HAG1 (I had 4 but gave away all but one) to see if I could duplicate this, because i did not remember this occurring when I first got and used all of mine.. After 15 seconds of extensive testing I can confirm that this radio DOES add a squelch-tail sound at the end of simplex signal reception and I can find no Reverse-Burst or Squelch Tail Eliminator option in the settings to disable it.. HOWEVER - i cannot understand how this would be an issue for anyone - it sounds similar to when using a repeater.. it sounds like every walkie-talkie radio you ever see on TV or in the movies.. This, for me, is a non-issue, but it does exist, unlike on most other radios - if you had not pointed it out I would have never even thought twice about it.
  19. That has been my philosophy my entire life and look where it's got me!
  20. You sir would be an honored guest of The NotARubicon repeater and afforded all perks and privileges therein and whatnot.
  21. FWIW, I thought your joke was humorous.
  22. The duplexer is small and it can easily be removed from the VXR7000 if you know how to run a screws-driver.
  23. What is your source for your "beginning to get tons of them [complaints]" statement? and... no, they will not act soon - based on the last 10 years of the FCC's enforcement actions, you are wrong. No, he won't. Nobody will, and statistically speaking, in the last 10 years, nobody has. Stop making up and spreading fairy-tales and lies, it makes you look uniformed and ignorant - and now everyone is laughing at you.
