  1. He's now giving approvals to people that request access, but not including the tone/any info.. This will make for a poor user-experience for MyGMRS users.. I hope @rdunajewskior someone can do something about it.
  2. "good" is entirely subjective and depends on what "good" means to you, so you're only going to get a bunch of people telling you what THEY have/what THEY think is good for them. So I'll start: In both my Jeeps I have Motorola XTL5000s.. To me they are good, so I i highly recommend one.
  3. I have not noticed that, but I did notice that you just signed up here and that was only your 4th post and you're already being a dickhead.
  4. This is not the case with any of the radios I've dealt with having the audio issue discussed in this thread. FYI: posting the same incorrect information multiple times wont make the information any less wrong.
  5. The audio problem is caused by the Automatic Gain Control (AGC) being a bit aggressive. Everyone I know that has this issue is able to improve it by not holding the mic so close to their mouth and holding it at a slight angle from their mouth (instead of directly in front of their mouth) so they aren't "popping" their Ps and Ts.
  6. This new listing: https://mygmrs.com/repeater/6937 is not owned by @WRWI949 and should be removed. It is a copy of-> https://mygmrs.com/repeater/5340 owned by me/my group. Posting here in hopes that @rdunajewski sees it - If there is another/better way to report a repeater please let me know.
  7. If the receiving radio has no receive-tone set, it will still hear the transmission. If the receiving radio has a different tone set, or of the receiving radio had a tone set, but the transmitting radio is not sending any tone, then receiving radio would not hear it.
  8. Assuming you are hearing this through a repeater: You may not have the right tone or you have it wrong/backwards in your radio (TX instead of RX and visa-versa) You may not be in range of the repeater - just because you can hear it does not mean it can hear you You are hearing a repeater but transmitting on the simplex channel not the "repeater" channel Probably other things i'm not thinking of
  9. Virtually all repeaters will have an input tone - that is the tone that you transmit to the repeater. The output tone which is the tone for receiving is optional. Some repeaters dont use one, even if they do, putting it on your radio is optional to help block-out other noise/traffic on the same channel. TL;DR - If it has just one tone/code, put it on the TX of your radio
  10. They are nothing but cheap Chinese junk! Anyone that uses one is not as smart as I am! ...just wanted to get that out of the way right up front.. I own several different model BoofWhangs and most of them offer great bang for the buck. Anyone that compares a $20-$50 Baofeng to a radio that costs much more (as done in this forum all the time) AND expects it to perform just as well is a fool and should be ignored.
  11. I am fairly certain that due to the laws of physics, there are no ham repeaters available anywhere within miles of that canyon either.. But I do agree with you on his stupidity, which is surpassed only by the 4 assclowns that decided to go Jeeping up Cleghorn on Saturday night in the middle of the blizzard/flurry.. and... got stuck/trapped... Lucky for them Cleghorn has cell-service almost the entire route -otherwise they'd still be there, Jack Torrance style..
  12. Except for the fact that where he was in Lytle Creek (Coldwater Canyon to be exact) there are no GMRS repeaters within range.. as is the case with 98% of Lytle Creek past the public shooting range.
  13. A used Motorola XTS5000 Model 1 would be a great option for your requirements, but be aware that it is not FCC Part 95 Type Accepted.. Not that the FCC will care, but "some people" here on the forum will stroke-out if they know you are using it on GMRS.
  14. All GMRS and FRS radios manufactured since 2017 use/share the same frequencies for channels 1-22 which are simplex, so yes, you will be able to say "go to channel 7" and talk with everyone as long as someone didnt buy one of those shitty radios that comes pre-programmed with tones/codes (most do not).
  15. Not through a regular/analog repeater. You would need something like a P25 capable digital repeater. (based on the times my group has tried/tested)
  16. I hedge my info to bring out "some people" so all the normal people can laugh at them... I'm glad to see that it's still working.
  17. Search for FCC form# 601 ... Watch the LMR part of this video for more infos: https://youtu.be/fuErcUjv_fA Edit/update: I dont know anyone (including myself) that has actually applied for a business license themself - everyone I know paid a company/service to do it for them.
  18. That is a bold statement, but curiously missing any actual examples/facts/data. Please tell us how the 1000G+ is limited compared to the 1000G .....
  19. I have had/used the KG-1000G, the 1000G+ and the DB-25... The DB-25 is probably my lease-favorite radio, and the KG-1000G+ is my mostest-favorite Part 95 GMRS radio, with the older 1000G right behind it.
  20. There actually is data to support this theory.
  21. I dont know of any radio manufacturer that releases their GMRS radios/updates on any set schedule - they come out when they come out.
  22. This is why urban areas with houses full of fat people get such poor fars.
  23. D'oh! Well, how DO you make those go away?!
