  1. That is a bold statement, but curiously missing any actual examples/facts/data. Please tell us how the 1000G+ is limited compared to the 1000G .....
  2. I have had/used the KG-1000G, the 1000G+ and the DB-25... The DB-25 is probably my lease-favorite radio, and the KG-1000G+ is my mostest-favorite Part 95 GMRS radio, with the older 1000G right behind it.
  3. There actually is data to support this theory.
  4. I dont know of any radio manufacturer that releases their GMRS radios/updates on any set schedule - they come out when they come out.
  5. This is why urban areas with houses full of fat people get such poor fars.
  6. D'oh! Well, how DO you make those go away?!
  7. You have to either Approve them, Deny them, or just pretend they aren't there.
  8. I need something better so i can calibrate my Fars-O-Meter 2000! I am also looking at some of the MFJ's but I want something that "some people" wont declare is just 'junk' and i'm not sure where MFJ falls on the home-expert's scale of "just junk"...
  9. Curious what some good, accurate, well-respected power meters are. I know Bird is the gold-standard but I'm looking for something not quite as expensive. Not just something that works well and is accurate, but something that "experts" would respect.
  10. I think you've just learned a valuable lesson about "some people" and online "Experts" ...
  11. ...
  12. When I first set up my 2 KG1000s as a repeater i had significant desense limiting my fars. But after separating the radios by several feet and putting one of the radios in a vented metal box, I was able to get a 20+ mile range.. I am high-up on a hill though so your fars may vary.
  13. #3 - I have been using about 60ft of LMR400 with my VXR7000 for over a year with no issues.
  14. I heard a rumor that a major GMRS YouTube Hobo will be doing a review of the 50V2 next week.
  15. Check with the boys in your local ham/GMRS group/club - someone will likely have a copy.
  16. Almost forgot: A lot of sad-hams like to slum on GMRS - so turn on your roger beep, then kerchunk the repeater a few times - They'll come at you like The Walking Dead...
  17. Some areas are, mostly because GMRS is intended for purpose-use. ie; when you go hiking, off-roading, etc, to talk with others in your group. Its not primarily intended for chatting with strangers.
  18. Yes, but I cant find anyone to talk to on it.
  19. are you sure you are using the correct channel "pair"? Its not just "the frequency".
  20. Yah, but still tied to the same FRN. is FRN info public? and can you see the previous license tied to the first?
  21. Too bad all the FCC website does is throw errors when trying to create a new FRN...
  22. If someone looses their FRN, and forgets their callsign, their only option is to get another license.
  23. I know multiple FRNs is fine, but wondering if there is anything for us lowly GMRS users specifically prohibiting more than one license. We know the police are allowed to do whatever they want.
  24. I cant find the answer to this myself so I yield to those that know more than I do: Does creating a new FRN and applying for an additional GMRS license violate any rules? For example, if i lost my FRN/callsign, or if i just dont like the way my callsign sounds and want a new one, would paying for a new license break any rules? And if so, please point to that rule (please, no guesses). I know that per https://www.fcc.gov/new-users-guide-getting-started-universal-licensing-system-uls multiple FRNs are permitted, but I cant find anything about multiple licenses.
