  1. all of the power in our hood is under ground and theres no box anywhere near the house. you are right the conduit does go into the ground ill see if i can determine how deep.
  2. have u shut off the blue tooth also? is it sat radio? with it being gone with a hard off then its def something in the head unit, could always try the tin hat method, could it be the digital fm receiver maybe try wrapping the antenna cable in said tin foil hat where the adapter more then likely is to go from a jeep to standard fm antenna. if your using the stock radio ground, why not try moving it to a good new location just to see the results? just throwing out ideas....good or bad is your call.........i take no responsibility if u blow up your jeep, blame that on the next door neighbors
  3. forgot to mention mast is on a chimney mount on a 10ft mast, this is the jpole i built but you get the mounting. the mast is about 4 inches off the roof. so the first run i was going todo was mast to rod outside of radio room where arrestor is. then over to the mess that is the panel area. but not sure what to ground to in said panel area. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N8UvKdgHwIY-Wv38UbqH7IzbHnkoINu3/view?usp=sharing
  4. so went and got 75ft of #6 bare copper wire to finish grounding my antenna mast and i went and took a look at the home meter and grounding rod and baaammm its not there....i tried todo this inline and im forum dumb or something.... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XEUOBjhlqso4gLoduiAlwjfNxoVqpXLX/view?usp=sharing so after seeing this im not sure what todo... (3 dots indicating more discussion, hell yea got to use it properly, thanks whoever that was) here is the way the coax comes out of my room into a Nagoya h-20 arrestor, the ground strap is 1 inch braided tined copper strap. its clamped to a 1/2x8ft copper rod. 2 questions now. should i run the ground from the mast to the rod with the arrestor or run it to the conduit on the power box? i was originaly going to run the mast to station ground then station ground to house but not sure what todo anymore. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CMBJSADjk6MInVXwPwdqLJNBBgd_UnaN/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CMBJSADjk6MInVXwPwdqLJNBBgd_UnaN/view?usp=sharing
  5. i went from a jpole i made to the https://dpdproductions.com/collections/gmrs-base-mobile-antennas/products/gmrs-vertical-outdoor-base-antenna according to my nano vna my swrs are in the 1.02-1.08 on a 10ft top rail chain link pole and a chimney mount. been working really good for me.
  6. welcome to the house my friend, and enjoy the radio....!!!!
  7. learned something cool today.
  8. gave a power number, mentioned one thing about the radio i didnt like, i also didnt know that 3 periods or more means u want more discussion thats new to me, ill have to start not using periods for that reason.
  9. you asked for others insight, i told u what we got, sry for adding i dont like the way the channels work offended you. still trying to figure out what a ham radio has todo with this topic....
  10. awesome that was def u i member the location, im in loveland so both r a good reach for me i belive im 29 miles from the leehill725 and 37ish from the metro600, do u also use the gsharp there in longmont or is it dead? holler at me anytime u want i monitor all the front range repeaters even though i can only hit those 2, havent tried the metro 700 on the new radio
  11. i use a jackery 240 to run my kg1000g, however i used a 4cell lipo for my rc car to program my radio till the wife brought back the home the jackery. (disclamer) a 4 cell lipo is 14..8 volts and very evil if your not carefull if u dont have a good connector type on the battery id avoid this, i use a combo of ec5 and deans plugs depending on what car its for...
  12. i love the way the scan groups are setup. i have my a side scanning the standard gmrs channels 1-22 and some 2m and 440 repeaters along with the iss and my local FD, then side b side is scanning only the 5 local gmrs repeaters i use. ive also set up scan groups for when we go wheeling, ive got it set to scan only the gmrs channels to listen to see if anyone needs help. and with the primary channel switch u can always monitor a set channel....so far been a darn tootin good radio
  13. buddy has a new v1 and its output is a lil over 3.5w if i member right. decent sounding radio, however i hate the way you have to program custom channels over stock location ones....
  14. i saw that in mine also and was hoping that it would work on anyone who touched the mic that wasnt spose to.....stun is a viable radio protection asset for kids like mine that want to say hi to everyone on the radio....even when ur not home.... also just think of the fun u could have with your brothers or sisters (at least once)..."hey bro go hop on the radio and give me a 3 count so i can listen to the other radio and see if i got it set up right in the car" .... "picks up mic, gets knocked the f down a peg" all the while your around the corner with a camera to video this and post it to a gmrs forum u visit...
  15. back at ya there wrkz306, welcome to the forum and enjoy the many hours of reading you have got yourself into!
  16. ive had mine for a few days and with mine vs the ht on the same antenna i def hear more with the 1000g, antenna was a homebrew jpole. just put up a dpdproductions GMRS outdoor base antenna and the receive is even better on kg. picking up repeaters that i didnt get previously with the same radio and my jpole..dont judge me for using a jpole im a poor jeep owner and i built it for 10 bucks...
  17. also the kg1000g is hard to get right now, ive had mine ordered last week and ive got a maybe get it shipped at the end of the month. tried to order 2 and it wouldn't let me...
  18. ok so then what im seeing is its equipment more over that is the issue. thats crazy about the baby monitors...ill def check that out
  19. i guess im looking at it to simplified, and dont understand why it has to be so complicated. in my logical or unlogical mind if a operator has a license for both gmrs and say there gen ticket why shouldn't they be able use a radio thats within the power limits on any of the freqs there able to transmit on, and i thought that most ham radios offer better filtering and better components so splatter and interference would be less then with say a cobra gmrs bubble radio to worry about messing with the commercial radios? i know there are fcc part XX certifications and rules for this and that, states you can do this but not that, i guess its more of a why it has to be this way a question. in the end maybe its complicated because it has to be for reasons beyond my mental capabilities, and im trying to think to hard about it
  20. so im in the process of studying for my tech (im slow at book learning) and one question that pops into my mind and im not sure if its in the book and i just aint got that far yet is. Why cant a licensed operator use a amateur radio on gmrs, they have taken time to learn the rules and whats expected. now i know there are turds out there that will ruin it for the masses, but what about the people who do follow power and channel rules even if its with a amateur radio instead of a dedicated gmrs radio? i know theres fcc rules and regs on radios, but arent the amateur radios going to have tighter emission and rfi limits which in turn would make them even over classified for gmrs? or maybe im giving humanity more credit then it deserves and it would be abused by the ones that should have been a poster child for birth control....
  21. 95 zj, uniden pc78ltx, with a 102 whip with spring and quick release, soon to be kg1000g on some type of better antenna then the ut-72, going to remote mount the head above the mirror on the upper console, the body im hoping to mount inside the center console but ill see when that time comes.
  22. welcome brother grats on the callsign, nice to see another person from Colorado. 6 inches is pretty close, im not a expert...just a Padawan, but that's pretty close and i would worry about the higher power eventually causing dmg to the cb, where as if u got a tuned cb again id worry about the same issue coming back into the mxt400. again I'm far from really knowing what I'm talking about that's just the way i would think about it, so take it with a grain of salt and I'm sure someone way smarter then me will give ya some great advice......what year is your jeep and can u get the bracket that would allow u to use the cb antenna on the drivers side tail light? edited: cuz i cant spell it seems...
  23. i can shift the tent forward and have room in the rear todo a nmo or move the mag mount to there. a concern i have with it in the back is, thats when trees are at there maximum hurt ur car value nad its unleashing it towards the rear of the vehicle?.
  24. here in Colorado its nasty to cell phone users like it should be, its super bad here.... but as radio operators we have this line here: (7) THIS SECTION DOES NOT PROHIBIT: 26 (a) OPERATION OF AN AMATEUR RADIO STATION BY A PERSON WHO HOLDS A VALID AMATEUR RADIO OPERATOR LICENSE ISSUED BY THE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION;
