  1. Go to your bedroom.. NOW
  2. You are just 'Full of' all kinds of fairy tales.. aren't you.. N E X T..
  3. Every instance i've heard off, ducting in the upper UHF Band seems to probagate on receiving signals more than it does allowing two way communications over the same distance.. I've heard a lot of stories where people can listen to a very distant station but none where two stations actually commucated over that distance.. Would it be possible YES, but conditions would have to be near perfect.. I would like to hear from someone if they ever made a two way contact under ducting conditions. Haven't yet.
  4. The FCC will never spend a millisecond changing the rules to allow linking in the GMRS Band when linking is already established and managed under Ameture Radio. Plain and simple, GMRS does NOT have the allowable bandwidth and nor does it have responsible groups to manage the spectrum. And secondary, it will never consider DMR in the Band for the same reasons.. (But i do think DMR has a better chance) To you folks that constantly wine and cry about wanting to legally 'get off' on repeater linking in GMRS.. It's time to become a 'Sad Ham' Bring Randy with ya, he just might enjoy himself.
  5. I live in the upper Mojave Desert (Indian Wells Valley) every once in a while as it nears evening hours i can hear a popular repeater out of the San Bernadine Mountains. The communication doesn't last long and fades weak to very strong. As Steve Shannon points out, it is a phenonium caused by elevated ducting caused by cooling Air. Although 'listening' would be common, i think it would be a very rare instance where you could actually communicate with that distant repeater during these conditions.
  6. I'll save a seat for you Randy,, In the back row
  7. that won't work with those outlaws Stick with the Verb
  8. you know they won't put them in jail. I don't think the FCC as ever put anyone in jail.. Put for sure, they will draw the hammer
  9. very small handful of out=laws that will learn the hard way.. At last count there are about 3 of them the FCC is keeping tabs upon... Before you get all excited 'Randy' I never reveal my sources. So STFU..
  10. I had similar problem when i ordered a Duplexer from a 'popular' radio sales outlet. I actually got two different Duplexers shipped to me that were bad or not tuned right.. The radio outlet worked with me, fed X out replacements and the 3rd one hit a homerun.. It worked.. Take the duplexer out and transmit receive on simplex using same tones. If it works then, you gots a bad duplexer
  11. your Grandfather was a treasure chest of knowledge. He came from an era when people actually earned their HAM license through true grit smarts. Now the best we get is people remembering and reciting answers.. Wish we had more of your grandfather around... Now days, 'anyone' can be a HAMER..
  12. Propagation
  13. its pretty obvious no one really cares about obtaining a license much less use their call sign to use GMRS for business.. Scanning the band in most places you go will tell you that.. Motels, Grocery Marts, Landscapers, Cable Contractors Construction workers and even contractors for government jobs all use GMRS for their business.... i hear it every day and i'm sure most of you do.. And i bet you never near a call sign iota. In fact, the only call signs i ever hear are the dorks wanting a radio check
  14. BobsCB.com I had a galaxy repaired a few back.. (couple years) Same problem finals out.. I remember i sent the radio UPS two day, i had it back the same week.. I think Bobs is in PA..
  15. amazing what goes over the heads of 'radio dorks' of course, more 'sarcasm'
  16. Inappropriate... Ask Pam about that....
  17. Sarcasm… you didn’t get it.
  18. did you know that Pamela Anderson made a couple Porn movies.. Did anyone get a chance to watches those..
  19. bad boy, bad boy, what you gonna doo....
  20. try ELAC, its open. Where do you hike in the mountains?? Desert areas ?? you should be able to hit El Paso Peak.. Two repeaters up there are open, i've actually hit that with my handheld from Palmdale. Those two get out pretty nice.
  21. Well, if you get bored any further, you can always watch Randy's videos
  22. #3 will apply
  23. yes, you will get a ground plane with that mount unless you our mounting it on fiberglass or plastic.. Make sure you get the hole punched out to exact size and if using a step drill bit, be very slow and careful, They can get away from you pretty quick. I actually prefer to using a gauged hole punch
  24. Apparently someone started a propane BBQ and for whatever reason the BBQ exploded in flames and quickly spread.. There was lots of racing fuel around including what is stored in those Toy Hauler Trailers and things got out of hand pretty quick.. I just drove by there. looks like 3 RVs and trucks burned to the ground a d many looked damages.. Looks pretty bad out there.
