  1. Welcome @Nighthawk01, try Trigger/ed 700 maybe. Not sure if you are already aware or acquainted with the repeater map page but even though it is associated with the forum you still need to log in separately over there.
  2. I have the KG-UV9PX and this also works in Chirp. That said I chose it because I have my ham. @WRWE456 has a good recommendation though if you just want to be able TX on GMRS. It's essentially the same radio but certified for GMRS.
  3. That was kind of what I was thinking.
  4. Steve, I didn't realize that some radios did this, makes good since though. Not having this radio (yet, haven't stopped collecting) but I was wondering if the programming allows you to preset power levels for individual channels or do you change all via the face. Obviously this doesn't help the antenna tunning issue but I was thinking this could also help in @WRYY390's set up but I am unsure.
  5. Only the SHARP site says they use the same PL of 136.5 on the repeater and there is no statment of input vs output on their site. so the norm would be input. I maybe wrong but I think when he says it dosen't use an input he means your radios recieve. It just dosen't make since to me to do it the other way but hey it's his repeater. I remain skeptical though. If the SHARP team used an input and everyone else used only an output I could see an issue where they would be using the repeater and others would be unaware. I love a mystery, please test and report back.
  6. As @Sshannon mentions no tones would be required because if you don’t set a receive tone you’re going to hear everything. Hmm so why would someone that didn’t set an input bother with an output tone? You got me. Most repeaters have both an input and output tone. Though some have an input tone with no output tone, which makes sense to me… but one with no input tone and then have an output tone? I haven’t seen that before. I’m not sure why you would set one up that way. I looked at the repeater page and even reading his answers to people asking about his set up it appears that’s what he is saying he did. I would follow @Sshannon’s recommendations, get closer to the repeater and test accordingly. I would be interested if this is really how it’s set up or if there’s a misunderstanding in how the repeater owner has posted his set up.
  7. Welcome @ADVBikerRadioGirl and yes thank you.
  8. The IC-2730A as well.
  9. I’ll second that. I run Chirp Next. It seems like about fifty percent of the time when I open it I get a message to update to the latest version. I take that to mean they’re keeping things updated. side note I gotta laugh every time I type “Chirp” on the iPad because it shows this emoji …
  10. Okay, Sorry. I missed that. I am not familiar with "Legacy/Flatpak". It's Linux, is that right? Sounds like your saying they do not update this as often. Either way both the plus and the non plus are good radios. Not a huge difference.
  11. There are two distinct software downloads in chirp. One for the KG-935G and one for the plus. What am I missing here? Why do you feel the need to use the same for both? The software is free.
  12. I have a KG-935G Plus and use the KG-935G Plus software in Chirp. I have no issues and as I use a Mac I prefer to use Chirp. This is still my favorite GMRS radio. Just my experience and opinion.
  13. Having your antenna tuned for the frequencies you Tx on is going to be better for your radio and your communications.
  14. It may be worth noting that if you are looking for a fast scan rate the KG-Q10 radios are not that. They scan slow, they are great radios though. If your primary use is GMRS and scanning is secondary you can't go wrong with the quality of the Wouxun KG-935G Plus and you'll be legal as well. No worries of transmiting out of band. Scanning is faster than the Q10's, no air band but... If there was "one radio to rule them all" we wouldn't all have so many radios I think you'd like the KG-935G Plus. That's my two cents.
  15. The Wouxun KG-Q10G will receive AM air band.
  16. Welcome to the forum @Rox
  17. Just a thought here. Are you on "channel 22" or "repeater channel 22" AKA channel 30? If you are on channel 22, it isn't a repeater channel and you would be sending out on simplex 462.725. Repeater channel 22 or channel 30 sends TX on 467.725 and receives on 462.725. Most GMRS radios (if not all) have the +5 already programmed into the repeater channels.
  18. I also tried the MXTA26 when I switched my mobile to an Icom 2730A and 2 meters SWR was through the roof. I ended up with the same Comet SBB5 and very happy so far. You have to pull up on it pretty good to get it to fold over. I have had no issues with it. I think one of their larger antennas had this issue and they changed the design to a locking nut but I don't recall which one that was.
  19. I'm not sure if I'm following correctly but it sounds like the radio will stop scanning on a frequency/channel when it sees a signal regardless of if it has a tone to match and even though it stops you can't hear because the tone is not the receiving tone needed to hear. If I got that right, my thought is to work around you could only program one memory without the RX tone or put the channels of different locations in different scan groups and only scan the one area you want one at a time thus eliminating the one with the other tone from your scan. You could also set scan to TO so that it continues to scan after 5 seconds if you don't stop it. I hope I'm understanding your dilemma correctly and this helps.
  20. So output tone would be on 462.xxx so someone listening for repeater output would also hear your Tx? Interesting idea. I can see where that would help prevent someone from walking on your transmission. You wouldn’t be accessing the repeater so I can’t see an issue with that though someone might think you were. Hmm
  21. Have you tried logging out and back in? Maybe clear cookies? Just ideas…
  22. Not that I am aware of. There is for the KG-UV9PX, the ham version. If I remember correctly it was through Chirp.
  23. @WRZV454 While I do think GMRS is more of a bring your own contacts compared to ham that doesn’t mean you can’t meet contacts via GMRS. I certainly have. Don’t be discouraged by on line bantering. As for the “no pending request” I believe the website is buggy sometimes. I sent a request once, received a response and yet the site said there was no pending request. You can try again. One repeater near you looks like the owner hasn’t been logged in for a couple months. You may need to be patient. They may not have seen your request. Perhaps you could try sending a request via snail mail if they don’t respond. Happy Holidays, good luck and 73’s
