  1. Forgive me if I’m telling you anything you know already. Your repeater channels will already have an offset of +5 so no need to set memory to 467.***,. The second issue I see is if they told you to transmit on 467.650 that would be channel 27 or possibly 35 but if you transmit on 467.650 then you are going to receive on 462.650 not 462.575. 462.575 receiving would be a transmit of 467.575. If I recall correctly the UV9G has the first eight repeaters already set so repeater channel for 462.650 = channel 27 and 462.575 = channel 24. I hope that helps.
  2. @WSAN654 check out Deer Meadows repeater. It looks like you may reach it and it is an open repeater. Owner says if you are licensed and use your call sign you are good to go, no request required.
  3. I typed in the area and it showed right up.

    License Info

I received emails for both GMRS and my Ham license. I would check spam filters if you don't, sometimes that stuff goes where you don't want it to.
  6. You are not wrong Adam. The data capable GMRS radios are suppose to have fixed antennas. But as @WRYZ926 states some got the glue treatment and some did not.
  7. Welcome @WSAD366 and @WSAI800! Cheers for radios and lurker status.
  8. It's still owned by someone and it's their call sign attached to it. Their repeater their rules. I certainly wouldn't go against the wishes of the owner of the equipment I have the privilege of using if they have stated a preference.
  9. I'll jump in here... I'm using the Comet SBB-5NMO, it's about 38" and works pretty great for 2m/70cm and pretty good for GMRS. My previous antenna was the Midland MXT26 Antenna and it works great on GMRS. Just don't try it on 2m.
  10. On simplex it's your radio your choice. However if you are using someone elses repeater then it's the repeater owners choice how they want their repeater used.
  11. Welcome to the forum @WRKH268
  12. You’re are correct. Note to self, drink coffee before responding. Thanks for the catch.️
  13. I don’t know about Midlands but most others do. Take a look at the recommendations from @WRYZ926 below.
  14. What channels are you hearing this on? 15 -22 shares receive frequencies with repeater channels so it’s possible that they are coming through a repeater so they may not hear you. It’s possible also you are just too far away to reach them even though you can hear them or they may have tones set and don’t hear you.
  15. @WSAB905 if this happens while moving It could be what is known as picket fencing which can happen if the signal is being interrupted by obstacles and (as I understand it) parts of the signal are arriving at different speeds. …I’m sure someone can explain it better than me.
  16. Welcome @WSAH452. I think that knowing how to program your radios via the front panel is valuable.
  17. I agree. I take no credit. It’s the fine work of one of our great members here @marcspaz. Lots of useful info and he does a nice job making it easy to follow.
  18. Welcome to the forum @WSAG780. Check out @marcspaz’s Intro to GMRS Video.
  19. I did read that and yes they seem to have already considered and come to a consensus. I found it insightful on decisions made and not just regarding the bubble pack debacle.
  20. That was quite the read. A true history lesson there. Thanks for the post.
  21. @WSAA635 Check your frequency limits
  22. I would totally take that taxi! …sorry I couldn’t resist
  23. I have always used Chirp but I think you should be able to do it front panel but you will have to select AM-SW for each memory you want to see as AM. On my radio it’s menu 54.
  24. Welcome @WSAE510
  25. Not to shabby at all. It looks good too.
