  1. You’re right, that’s not correct. It’s dated 2017…
  2. A little additional info on the RF factor, here in California when PG&E first went to remote reading meters the frequency they used didn't get along with GFCI breakers made by Zinsco and were causing breakers to trip in some homes. Similar issues occurred with some of the early arc fault breakers.
  3. Great find @Sshannon, I was wondering what the manufacturer might have regarding this.
  4. How are you programming the radio? You may find using chirp is easier than putting it in the front. If you are using chirp can you give us a screenshot? We may be able to help with a bit more info. It looks like you are near a repeater.
  5. So if I’m understanding you correctly this is tripping a GFCI receptacle and not a GFCI breaker. That narrows down the tripping to a ground fault and not an overload of the circuit. A GFCI operates by monitoring the current on the hot side vs the neutral side. At about 5 milliamperes difference it trips due to the current not returning on the neutral. Thus the current is going somewhere else, a ground fault. (Side note, Even if the receptacle isn’t grounded it will still trip). So it sounds like you have a ground fault in your device that you are plugging in. A GFCI breaker will also trip from over current. To much load. Another factor at play if you have a newer home is an Arc fault breaker and or receptacle. They work differently than a GFCI. This can be confused as a GFCI and some arc faults are both. Here is where it gets fun… some arc faults have been known to trip from RF. That’s a whole other rabbit hole. Try plugging into another known GFCI circuit in your home. If it’s tripping it probably has a fault. If not you may need to have an electrician check the garage GFCI but since you mentioned everything else works in the garage my guess is it’s not the issue. One last thought here, @Lscott mentioned capacitive input filters on the power supply. Which could be at play. I don’t want to go down more of a rabbit hole than I already have but I would be interested in what the manufacturer of the power supply had to say regarding the tripping. There can be many factors involved here. Disclaimer I do recommend electrical work be done by qualified electrician. I hope this helps and good luck.
  6. I don't have notifications on and don't monitor that often but when we had storms and flooding this past winter I was checking in. I pick up two NOAA channels where I'm at. It's mostly coastal info. It's an easy way to find out the water temps and surf hight and tides.
  7. Regardless a modification for the Wouxun KG-935 to open it up at this point does not exist. Some of the Wouxun ham radios have been modified but so far it seems Wouxun remains locked down on the GMRS versions. This is also my favorite GMRS radio
  8. You might want a radio approved for GMRS as you would likely find it easier to program and less easy to go sideways. That's your call. That said their is a +5 offset for repeaters on the TX. If you are in fact talking simplex this may be why. For instance channel 15 is 462.5500. So for a repeater on the same channel/frequency, the TX to a repeater will be 467.5500 and RX will be at 462.5500. A GMRS radio will likely already have the offset programmed in.
  9. Nice. I knew there were a lot, at least the KG-935 has the room.
  10. @WRHS218 That sounds like a great trip. My wife and I have friends and family in Flagstaff and Sedona. I have just a few railroad frequencies programmed for local area. Did you have a specific list you loaded up to scan for your trip?
  11. Radio does not appear to be type accepted for GMRS. Have you confirmed that it actually transmits on the frequency in question? Does it work in simplex?
  12. I can’t find a video on this but here is some info on creating scan groups. How to create scan groups on the Wouxun KG-1000G
  13. Welcome to mygmrs. I always loved the origin of the towns name Show Low.
  14. I also read this last night and then again this morning. I was at a loss as to how to respond. Trying to think of what would compel the OP’s post and look for something I was missing. Murs is used so little why would you need more? An opinion of wanting it to have more seems harmless to express. But to up and state an active disregard of the current regulations of the frequency while knowing it’s being used for other purposes. It’s an entirely slippery slope. I could not have articulated a better response than @WRXD372 has and hope that it has a beneficial effect in giving OP pause and consideration as to why their actions are not in their or the radio community’s best interest. IMHO If you aren’t licensed for a frequency don’t key up. 73’s
  15. I thought that was a good idea but I never cleared my cache. I was gone all day but checked when I came home and everything was normal again. This is one of those times I just say it was low on PFM… Pure f*#@ing magic
  16. It’s back to normal on it’s own now without doing that. Good thought though, I have seen that happen before.
  17. It loads on the page when you use an iPad but it’s not there when you use a computer.
  18. Exactly! I use a Mac but have an old laptop with windows and I like to know ahead of time that I can use the software before buying the radio. OP’s dilemma is I think the reason why one starts collecting radios. With the first one you find out what it does and doesn’t do and get to know about what more you would like, then you want something that does something else or something more, then you realize that one over there does something you didn’t even know you were interested in. The next thing you know your looking for a support group for compulsive radio purchases
  19. I think that’s just a notice they may still have interruptions, I see the maintenance screen also but the system is up and working.
  20. This is good advice. I do this too. I have even download the software ahead of a purchase if the radio isn’t supported in chirp…
  21. You can load up memory slots on both the Wouxun KG-935G+ and the KG-S88G. Both are good radios.
  22. Greetings and welcome as a member of the Mygmrs forum
