If you are hearing static, if you are hearing anything for that matter the scan has stopped on that frequency. It may be that the radio picked something up that is out of range. Try adjusting your squelch and the radio may scan right over the noise. You may be able to adjust your scan settings as well. A TO setting will give you a timed operated scan and will continue scanning after a few moments. A CO setting will stop until the radio stops hearing a transmission and SE will stay on the first frequency the radio hears until you change it.

We have people in Minnesota and North Dakota that's as close as I get to -12 so you won't hear me complain about the cold.... wait, what? -34!!! Real feel -31? what kind of weather app crack is that? It's -34 but at least it feels like -31? The app should just say warning stay inside. As usual the site is restricting my number of likes so Happy Monday and stay warm. I removed my weather info out of respect to you both. ?

To be fair so did I and I didn't succeed either. I wouldn't say that. We all do. I just felt things were really going off the rails so I reacted as well. And I just about spit my coffee out! OMG you are from Wisconsin and that was classic Red Forman ? I love it. Best post ever. Let's call it good and all get a coffee (or whatever your favorite beverage is).

@Sshannon I find to be a good example of how to be on the forum, helpful as often as possible and almost always one to take the high road. @MichaelLAX I have also witnessed being helpful to others here including me. I don't always agree with his approach, I will say you know where he stands. The signature as I see it was intended to provoke, push buttons. Mission accomplished. So respectfully sure you could ignore it and by that theory you could ignore @MichaelLAX's response. I thought @Sab02r was being a big person in removing it. As for "I don't make a habit of kowtowing to the perpetually offended" That just proves what the intent was in the first place. And that is the problem as I see it. Be good humans or don't, your choice. Why do I bother with my thoughts here? I enjoy the community and I like learning and helping others. That is what I enjoyed in my work before I retired. I like radios. The stuff in this thread... not so much.

But you didn’t ? and none of this has Jack to do with radios or magnetic mounts.

There is a small gray x on the right hand side of each person’s signature. Just below the reaction button. It removes just that person’s signature from your view. I never noticed it before now.

This was informative and well written. I learned a few new things. A good read for people setting up a repeater for the first time as well as using them. Thanks for sharing.

Okay you can do it better... Always going to be someone who can. You didn't answer the question. Where are you getting the data for all the repeaters for your "better version" (not open source, not free to use)? Are you just planning on stealing it from @rdunajewski or are you going to get permission from where it is required (the owners of all those repeaters)? I'm all for improvements it just seems like bad form, I would go so far as to call it rude to be disparaging the free site on which you have the privilege of using. Just sayin...
-
Crude and rude? Slow? It seems to work good for me. Your own version? And where would the data come from? Certainly not here. As @Borage257 points out have you used the map portion here? It is like Google maps. How about a little appreciation for the site you’re on… or am I missing something?

There are so many better ways to communicate in an emergency these days so if I am using GMRS for an emergency it is because nothing else is available. In which case the channel I can contact someone on is going to be my emergency channel.

Scotch 33+ 3M electrical tape as @gortex2 said the good 3M will last. The cheep stuff is useless. Also ? for @Sshannon’s UV cable ties.

you were too fast for me,?

Check page 52 and 53 of the manual. It sounds like you are sending the ANI code. Menu 16 to turn off

It depends on what you are trying to bring in. If you are looking at GMRS frequencies the stock antenna on the KG-935G is specifically tuned for GMRS frequencies and hear it is pretty good. I have a Nagoya 771G also tuned for GMRS and I am pretty happy with it. Nagoya makes a shorter antenna the 701G that I have no experience with but I have been meaning to pick up and try out just to have something a bit shorter for hiking. If you are using your radio for scanning someone else on here may have a suggestion for something dual band.

Baofeng UV9G - Unable to turn off Flashlight

I agree with @Sshannon a return shouldn’t be a problem. Sorry we couldn’t help. I tried to recreate the problem but nothing I did caused the issue. Let us know how it goes. -

It definitely is the bottom button, the one with two dashes as you say. Also as @Sshannon mentions just one press. I think there may be an issue with the radio. When I pull the battery from mine the light defaults to off when it's plugged back in. Very odd indeed. Where did the configuration come from for the event? -

I think I would down load a copy of all stored frequencies first and go ahead and do the reset on the radio. Be sure to save it all because it won't save any of the frequencies even the preloaded ones. -

Okay, well then. Hmmm? I don't know how you would or could do that. Perhaps not in Chirp? -

When I first got this radio I was testing the FM radio and hit the sk1 button longer than needed and set off the alarm... now there is a feature I could do without. -

You are correct. He mentioned the SP button? Maybe just hitting wrong button? It’s a quick push instead of holding for MON. I tried leaving mine on and unplugged the battery and when I plug it back in it stayed off. ? -

I don’t see any option to change the MON button in chirp for this radio. Have you tried just pulling the battery and putting it back in? Also it isn’t the SP button but rather the Sk2 button. The lower of the two smaller buttons. Hope this works for you.
