    Help

I don’t see it. Nonetheless, it’s good that we have the manners police here. [emoji849]

    Help

    We disagree.
  3. If there are repeaters near you and since you’re within the Amazon return period, yes - I’d return and get something that offers repeater capability. No sense spending money for something you won’t end up using. Consider watching some YouTube videos to get an idea of the different handhelds and their respective pros & cons. I’m not a “fanboy” but I’ve found Randy’s provides some good information on his “Notarubicon” channel.

Maybe so, but the lack of any useful information deserves some ridicule.

    Help

Really? I disagree. The OP didn’t care enough to register here first, indicating he may not even be licensed. He didn’t provide any information about his equipment either, so we’re supposed to be clairvoyant and solve his issue through the power of kindness? I think not. The OP’s comment is indicative of the very problem in our society today; people expect to be coddled and don’t think for themselves. OP could read the manual that came with his radio. He could provide more information if they expect a helpful reply. That you choose to dump on Randy suggests you’re kinda 10-ply yourself.

Put the radios near your keyboard so we can get a feel for what we’re taking about…..
  7. I’m pretty sure those ^ antennas have been out for months….
  8. I also started with CB back in the early 1970’s and found it very useful until the early 1990’s or so. I considered getting the HAM ticket, but never took the time. When building out my new 4Runner I found YouTube videos that highlighted GMRS and thought it would be a good addition. After a bit more than a year the “radio bug” bit me and I now have a couple Icom radios and will be taking the test soon, to finally get the HAM license. My son & I both have mobile radios and we have several handhelds between us. The overall clarity, range, and repeater capabilities make this feel like an excellent option for us.
  9. I know this wasn’t the question, but…. This Motorola seems pretty basic. I just picked up a pair of the new Midland MXT67 Pro walkie talkies and they seem ideal for someone looking for repeater use, but with a relatively simple menu system. Mine will go to family members that aren’t radio nerds. Note: you’ll need Midland’s own programming cable to name the channels. I’m waiting on restock to get one.
  10. While I don’t dispute this happened, the issue of asking for call signs is a bridge too far. The owner should not need to produce any such info, but even if they do I doubt anything would come of it. The government always tends to overreach and it’s up to the citizens to push back and keep them in check.
  11. I read the story and watch Randy’s videos on the recent issue in New York State, but I don’t recall a fine being assessed. I’d think the FCC would start with an advisement or warning.

    GRMS Needed?

Are you desperate for attention? If you don’t want a radio, don’t buy one.
  13. Well that clears it right up! [emoji849]
  14. Still going to need a bit more explanation as to what the hell’s going on here.
  15. I’m kinda confused…. all of this seems like an answer to questions no one here asked. ???
  16. Could be it was listed incorrectly, but since it’s privately owned it’s always best to show appreciation. Arguing with the owner seems like a bad idea…
  17. Nicely done. [emoji106]
  18. Dunno, but Mav got inverted once and saw a MiG close up.

    Programming

Is there a question in that ^ ? Have you read all the manuals? Asking for a friend.
  20. I hope there will be a video of that conversation. [emoji41]
  21. The female version of the Roger beep is the Karen beep.
  22. ^ this. Super easy to do.
  23. I think it’s pretty obvious that we’re all a bit nerdy, but that Morse code station ID is some next level pocket protector stuff.
