MikeVdP
I see that the hold3er of a GMRS license can let others in his "association" use his GMRS license. We have local "associations" of neighbors organized for empergency preparedness. Does thiscount as an "association"? Can a GMRS licensee extend priviliges to all members of a 501( c) 3 amateur radio club? Any leads will be great!
n4gix
Short answer: NO Long answer: GMRS license will cover your family. Unless all of the "association" members are directly related to you, or related through marriage, it is not legal. Mikeam
SteveC7010
I see that the hold3er of a GMRS license can let others in his "association" use his GMRS license. Please reference your source for this. The “association rule” in 95E applies only to grandfathered GMRS licenses issued in the name of the association. This can not be stretched or bent to apply to individual licenses that are now the norm. wayoverthere
MikeVdP
Thank you to the responders. I see it now...95.1705 © (4) is for grandfathered licenses. Under that is (iii). That gives grandathered (only) licenses the opportunity to usethe license for "associations." So, yes, individuals and families (as defined) need licenses! Thanks!
