I just got a new BTech GMRS-50V2 and the radio is sending out a roger beep which I can't seem to find the option to turn off. I researched the manual that came with it, Looked for the option in chirp and also a google search turns up nothing about a menu option to turn this off. Anyone have a clue?

How about menu 9: BEEP?

And if not then menu 20 and tell it not to send an ID. You could be sending an ID at the end of PTT. This has several options. You want to turn it off.

Nope #9 does key press beep and #20 is already turned off.

You wont find it in the manual because the 50V2 (at least, the one that I had) does not have a Roger Beep.

It's a two tone beep that I hear when I stop transmitting and I have another radio to monitor my transmission and it definitely is transmitting the tones.

Ok..
Mine did not do that..
It's not in the user-manual because this radio does not have a Roger Beep..

So yours must be defective.  What did BTech Support have to say?

I had not contacted them yet. And I also have not yet found anything in the manual that speaks of it.

Funny I bought this radio off of eBay from mygmrs.com 😆

Well that sucks. I originally tried to buy this radio off of Amazon but they instead sent me a UV-25X2 two times in a row (which I still need to return) and I finally bought it off eBay

Some repeaters have a courtesy tone that you hear when you or the other person let go of the PTT button.  The purpose of the courtesy tone is so you don't have to let the repeater drop every time before speaking.

I keep my Roger Beep on - when someone complains about it, I remind them that its my radio and nobody is forcing them to listen to me.

That's fine if your on Simplex...but if you are using a Repeater...that is someone else's radio. Some of the older (and more reliable) repeaters can be confused by the tone and hold the frequency open, sometimes for minutes. give the repeater owners a brake and turn it off.

the person listening knows when you have released the PTT just fine without it

LOL you say that, but my mother for example doesn't know when I've "released the PTT" when I'm talking to her face to face!

It took her a while to learn that if the other radio is still transmitting, you can't just jump in and talk over it and expect the other radio to hear what you're saying, and she still jumps the gun sometimes.

Yeah, but they are soooo annoying.

YOUR radio, YOUR choice - if you hear something objectionable, perhaps you should exercise your right to use your radio, the way you wish, and change the channel.. Nothing gives you the right to inflict your opinion and violate someone ELSEs right to use their radio the way they wish.

That seems like it would be too logical.

Then again, some of us have learned to tune out the parts we don't want to listen to. My wife calls it selective hearing. Apparently I only hear what I want to. I guess "just do whatever you want to" doesn't actually mean what it sounds like.

Take a breath, just expressing my opinion. Step away from the candy dish.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, saying they think a roger beep is annoying equates to violating rights is a bit of a stretch.

beep

edit. In my opinion.
