Good Youtube Channel for GMRS Info (Including Equipment Reviews)

Though I've mentioned this as a side item in various posts, I wanted to take the time to create a specific post to spotlight my favorite youtube channel for GMRS info, including equipment.

I'm speaking of NotaRubicon Productions.

The owner of that channel is a down to earth guy by the name of Randy.  His channel has good things going for it:

+ Good Production.  Good lighting.  Good mics.  A sense of humor.  A born-to-do-this delivery ability.  Aspiring YT channel stars, take note.

+ Good Information.  The good production attributes mentioned above can help bring people into a channel and make them want to return.  But that is not enough.  There has to be relevant information delivered to the point.  Randy does this.

It's obvious that manufacturers are aware of him and the fact that he is an influencer.  When Randy gives a thumbs up for a radio model, buyers snap them up.  When he mentions problems with newly introduced radios, manufacturer's fix them fast.

I have no connection with Randy or his YT channel.  Just wanted to share a good GMRS youtube channel for those interested.

I agree with the post from mrgrms above.

I have found Randy's YouTube channel to be the primary channel I go to for all things GMRS, and his off-roading content is pretty good, too.

Most of the off-roading content is SoCal related, so if you're in Southern California, and looking for this type of thing, I'd recommend checking it out.

Of course, the main reason I've visited his channel is for the informative, yet humorous, content related to GMRS radios and radio usage. He explains things in a way that it should be easy to understand for beginners, yet informative enough that more advanced users would appreciate it too.

I too heartily endorse Randy's YT channel, although I must confess that I find it really funny when he spends minute after minute "wasting time" while he explains that he's not going to waste the viewer's time... ?

I am still waiting for the upcoming Randy posts on:

1) Using your fanless GMRS Mobile to cook your breakfast eggs sunny-side up; and

2) a review of the new Baofeng with its swear-word cancelling feature (did I tell you its only $40?!?)!

Videos worth watching are only hosted on pornhub. For technical stuff, I read much faster than I can possibly watch.

I actually ended up blocking a couple people on the FB radio groups I follow, because I got tired of their only contribution to the groups being links to their videos on YouTube ? no text, no explanation, just video.

Because I'm usually multitasking, text usually works better...it's rare I can take the time (or have the patience) for someone to walk through something on video

I watch Randy's videos for the entertainment value; even the ones for which I have no interest in the product being reviewed, and his snappy repartee to some of the snarky comments below

It is refreshing to see someone intelligently call out the internet-morons! ?

I’m sure he has many useful and helpful videos and he seems very nice in his videos but.......... While I realize he’s trying to be funny, the guy creeps me out ! Unfortunately, I gave up pretty early on trying to view & support his channel. If he’d stop trying to be a comedian and making love to his camera, it would help immensely. Maybe I’m the only one that is creeped out but I seriously doubt it.

Ran into this again recently with dmr...trying to get everything programmed, and I can't seem to find just instructions, everything is videos. Even the blog posts are just embedded videos.

What do you want to know about programming DMR? Which radio do you have? What local repeaters have DMR coverage? Any special Talkgroups you want programmed?

I'm sure he's reading this thread, having his coffee, and beaming right now (as he should be). Great channel, enjoy the content and the competent reviews.

Randy, if you're reading this I recently cross-posted a question (on your channel) regarding the limitations of scanning range of the KG-935G vs the GM30 and would appreciate a response/input, at your earliest convenience (answer it, pin it, or delete it-either which way will show that you read it, ty).
