Hello all - new user here, both to GMRS and myGRMS.com. I am just getting started in the hobby and am looking for a list of trusted suppliers that the community here has purchased from, had good luck with in the past, etc. Obviously opinions can vary, but I am trying to cut through the noise and figure out what stores, web sites, etc. have good service, selection, and support versus the fly-by-night folks out there. Any help you could give would be appreciated. ?

The biggest issue with gmrs gear is most of the better (and approved) gear seems to be one off to different vendors, which is why you won't find a ton of ability to cross shop prices on the same model outside of Midland.

Buytwowatradios.com is well regarded, as far as I know, and I've had no issues with the few orders I've had from them (have the 805g on the banner ad, another wouxun, and a couple other bits including antennas. For the Btech gear, they're the sole source on that. Radioddity.com has a couple options, and one (db20g) is a twin to the anytone at779uv, which I've only seen on amazon. A few members have one version or the other and are happy with them (myself included, with 2 of the anytone), though one member has one showing lower power out than it should, so maybe some quality control issues.

Note that BTech and Radioddity both have "store fronts" on Amazon; don't know if those are handled by other companies behind the scenes or are actually managed by the named firms.

And yes, my DB20G shows a rather drastic slope on output power: 22W in the (unlocked) 150MHz range sliding down to just under 12W on GMRS 467MHz repeater inputs (and 13.5W on the 462MHz simplex channels).

BuyTwoWayRadios and BetterSafeRadio (i have purchased from both) are both based in the U.S. and have great support.  Anything else I buy on Amazon because they make it very easy to return things if necessary, unlike if buying direct from some manufacturers (Retevis, Radioddity, etc).

Sorry, NO affiliate link below.

I don’t own any “purposely manufactured” GMRS radios. I use new or used commercial gear, many with Part 95 certification, programmed for GMRS. Generally the commercial gear works better, has more features and more flexibility. A few of the hand held radios I own are 4/5 watts with up to 512 channels, plenty for any uses I need.

Amazon mostly because my wife pays for prime. Easy returns if you get something you don't like or doesn't work right. Recently inquired on www.buytwowayradios.com for work radios and they were super helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to buy from them anytime.

Amazon has the easier return policy, BuyTwoWayRadios has top notch service and good deals...   Ebay is getting better and now offers free sniping  on most things you  buy there..  If you need some sort of tech support on your  radio gear, i would stick with Buytwowayradios..  Their support is awesome..
