back4more70 Posted November 18, 2023 Report Posted November 18, 2023 Any recommendations for a tri-band antenna that you have used on an HT? I have a Baofeng UV-17R Pro GPS and just discovered it will transmit on 1.25m (as well as 2m and 70cm). The original is the standard male SMA to female connection dual band antenna. Quote
WRYZ926 Posted November 18, 2023 Report Posted November 18, 2023 Here is a tri band 2m.1.25m/70cm Nagoya antenna. https://www.amazon.com/Nagoya-NA-320A-2M-1-25M-70CM-144-220-440Mhz-BTECH/dp/B01K10B9XK/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=tri%2Bband%2Bantenna&qid=1700346610&sr=8-1&th=1 back4more70 1 Quote
AdmiralCochrane Posted November 18, 2023 Report Posted November 18, 2023 I had to think about it for a minute, but I have that antenna and have used it on all 3 bands with a UV5X3 with success. On top of a 14 story building I was able to hit a repeater 23 miles away very clearly. It's a bit long and unwieldy, but that is a trade off for all 3 bands. I only use it when I know I am going to use 1.25m WRXB215 and back4more70 1 1 Quote
back4more70 Posted November 18, 2023 Author Report Posted November 18, 2023 Thank you, I am considering the mentioned Nagoya NA-320A, and I also saw the Diamond Antenna Tri-Band HT SRH320A for over twice the price but about 4 inches shorter. I would need an adapter, which is no big deal. I will have to decide how much I want to sink into this purchase. WRYZ926 1 Quote
AdmiralCochrane Posted November 19, 2023 Report Posted November 19, 2023 Funny that you should mention the SRH320A ... I use it on my Kenwood TH6A. Quote

WRYZ926 Posted November 20, 2023 Report Posted November 20, 2023 I have no experiences with the Comet or Diamond tri band antennas so I won't be much help there. I have been very happy with the Nagoya 771 and 771G antennas on my Baofeng GT-5R dual band and UV-5R GMRS HT's. I doubt that you will go wrong with either antenna. Quote
AdmiralCochrane Posted November 20, 2023 Report Posted November 20, 2023 Clearly you have chosen good stuff that people are having success with. Quote
tweiss3 Posted November 21, 2023 Report Posted November 21, 2023 I too have the SRH320 on my D74 Quote
TwistedSquirrell88 Posted December 26, 2023 Report Posted December 26, 2023 Triband antenna I use for my kenwood thd72 and thd74 radios is the smiley triband antenna. It works well for my area. KO4ESA/WRJR757 Quote
