Haven't had a CB in 30 years (it's what got me into Ham radio actually) but its installed in my Jeep JK now and I'm having a ball listening to all the skip just like old times! I kind of walked in on a discussion today.. kind of distorted and I couldn’t hear them well. I called for a radio check and they shut up. Must’ve been the only people in cb in my area and now here’s a new dude in town and I ain’t welcome.

WRKW566
It has lurked there for more than 20 years... Things move around it as it waits quietly. People have actually asked "what is that?" to which I smile and reply, "A waste of time... but it was kinda fun". StogieVol

GMRSJohn
I’m kind of having fun with this thing. I listened to some guys talk about working on aggravating vehicles and drinking the other day. There’s a channel that has a lot of Spanish and pac-man sound effects.. not sure what it is but comes in clear. I am noticing that the cigarette lighter power tends to affect reception. It’s an annoyance but I’ll live with it.
StogieVol
@GMRSJohn Truth in that statement. I have a 3 hobbies, so I have to not stir the pot to much. Jeep, Radios, and guns. And all 3 are kinda pricey. opps. GMRSJohn

And right now, I’m kind of aggravating or making my case why a Mossberg Maverick 88 Cruiser is a good investment. StogieVol

I think I paid $120 for mine. I have it set up for 1 3/4" shot shells. GMRSJohn
AdmiralCochrane
I agree, you can't go wrong with a Mossberg. I have a 590 Now that we have derailed this thread, the question is whether to start a Radios/Jeeps/Guns thread or to continue to mutilate this one. WRKW566
"Mutilated lady late last night" You guys make me feel normal. Cars, radios, guns what else in common? Paintball, radio control stuff, overpriced bicycles, camera repair and naps. Gotta do more naps. WRXB215, GMRSJohn and WRUQ357

Seems the bug is pretty serious lol. Battle won. One Maverick 88 Cruiser on the way. I always feel like a nervous dad waiting to see his baby when I go get a new piece of weaponry. I've gotten out of a couple of expensive hobbies but still have three main hobbies that get expensive. I had to give up riding motorcycles due to health and I don't own any Jeeps at this time. I had newer Jeeps along with a 1962 Willys M170 front line ambulance. I keep it simple with my boat and only have a little 10 ft pond hopper. I still am into firearms along with radios and model trains. Boat = bust out another thousand HD Harley Davidson) = Hundred dollars here and there Jeep = Just Empty Every Pocket. AdmiralCochrane
In 1963 my father bought a CJ6A (same chassis as the M170) with a worn out motor and put a Buick V-6 in it. We used it for decades until it was totaled by an idiot driving on the wrong side of the road. No one was hurt other than the Jeep.
