Hoping to use one of these for a SHTF and monitoring communications.

I kinda like the Wouxun KG-1000G Plus because it is a heterodyne and a little more sensitive and clearer, but there’s a difference between the broadcast frequencies of the Btech which is homodyne off a chip.

I know no one ever has an opinion on these forms but I thought I would ask. LOL

I have not used the 50x3, but I have had three 50x2's (basically the same thing).. all three failed within a year or so...
Over the last 5 or 6 years I have had 5 (one for each jeep, one for the house, 2 to make into a repeater) KG-1000G's and they all still work today.

I also have to figure out the mobile antenna. Since I live in the Blue Ridge mountains high gain will only benefit when I have few obstructions. I am guessing a 4-5.5 gain if I can find one to hit the G spot for the area. My BF8 hits the repeater sometimes but it gets patchy. Hoping the mobile radio and a good antenna reduces that. I have been on a hunt for a good one.

Forgot to add: on all three of the 50X2 units, none of them would output more than 28Watts or so. when i contacted BTech i was told it was because I was not using a dummy-load to measure... Later, when i using a dummy load, the output was the same.

Every KG-1000G i've used (plus friends units that I have tested) all output ~46-51 Watts...
