Oh how I lusted after an original 44 Automag.  But alas, two kids a wife and a mortgage came first.  However if anyone knows where a Webley Fosbery can be found fairly reasonable, let me know.

Yeah, I had the chance to buy an original Automag for $350 back in the 70s, but I was a poor college student.  The “Automag V” from AMT was nothing like it.  It was a poor man’s alternative to the Desert Eagle, which was a much better pistol.
I’ve also fired the 50 BMG cartridge in a bolt action rifle.  That was more enjoyable than the “Automag V”.  At least nothing hit me in the forehead. 😕

Good luck finding a Webley-Fosbery.

Bickering implies that a counter position is taken because I care about the other persons opinion and how it reflects on me and my initial position.... which definitely is not the case. LoL

Oh, he's just trying to start another argument with me.

I swear if I said he was intelligent and handsome he would figure out a way to protest the statement.  But he ain't and and I wouldn't, so we will miss at least THAT discussion.

I fired a brand new .50 AE in an AMT Automag V once. Just once though because the lever on the safety sheared off and hit me in the forehead. I might have fired it a second time but that seemed like a sign.

Personally I was never into the 50 cal stuff, rifle or pistol.  I would like to say that I have avoided anything chambered in 5 dollar bills or above, but I do have a couple rifles that do cross that river.  So I reload those, and it's not as hard to deal with.  Now, I will also say that reloading will NOT save you money in the long term.  But when you can shoot the rifle 40 -50 times for 90 bucks, as opposed to 10 times (338 Lapua) you get to be a better shot and enjoy the rifle more.  But it's still a 90 dollar range trip.  Of course 50 or so rounds of 300 WM and a 100 or so rounds of 223, and possibly 45ACP.  At least you leave with a smile on your face. And a sore shoulder.

I also remember AMT and their stainless '1911' framed guns.  The one I always wanted was the 'Long Slide' which was a 1911 with a 9 inch barrel if I remember right.  I REALLY wanted one of those... until I found out they weren't the most reliable 1911 to own.  At some point I will no doubt purchase a 1911 and the needed parts to build my own long slide.  But tower's ant radio's are what I am involved with for the most part since 2018 when Matt bought the tower.  At some point I will fire back up the press and turn out some 300 and 338 and make a range trip.

I have been known to commit blasphemy and, one of my 6 1911's is 9mm - with a red dot sight ... double blasphemy, but it's a great host for my 9mm can

I know some guys that own a large number of different calibers.  And it's NOT that I think one is better or worse than the other.  I can't sit here and argue the 'stopping power' or the 45ACP, when I own a 454 Casull and KNOW BETTER.  But a Elephant Pistol, Raging Judge Magnum, is NOT a concealed carry pistol, any more than a 556 AR pistol is.  But the 454 DOES have superior stopping power to the 45ACP, or most any other pistol caliber.  And of course it chambers  410 as well so there is that if I need a pistol with real power.

I stay with 45 caliber pistols and 30 caliber rifles (308, 300WM) for lack of need to stock a huge number of different bullets to reload with.  Other than the 240 grain 300's that will not fit in a 308, most all my rifles shoot the same bullets.  The 223 of course, because everyone has an AR or 3 around, shoot the same loads.  The odd man out is the 338.  But that was my '50 BMG' type rifle that was more affordable to buy and shoot than the 50.  Oddly enough I do have a complete setup to load 50BMG, just no gun to shoot them in.

Having 50 BMG reloading stuff isn't all that weird.  I have a set of dies for the .455 Webley.  Just incase I ever do find a Webley Fosbery.  I found the dies covered with dust in a shop in Culver city.  I don't know if they didn't know what they had or the counter guy just looked at the dust covered box and pull a number out of his, err, hat.  But $25 brought them home.
