  1. Past hour
  2. My suggestion is mounting it top/center of the roof.
  3. I have a 2006 F150 with super crew cab. I recently bought a Midland MXT575 radio and am exploring different mount options. If anyone has suggestions for mounting ideas, I'd appreciate any and all ideas!
  4. Hey folks! Had a great time at the Meet-N-Greet. Just wanted to thank everyone for coming out and share a few pictures! Talk to you all soon!
  5. There's your mistake, right there.
  6. You give them far too much credit...
  7. Umm, we are all adults, right? We all faced the same learning curves, right? We all can still communicate even with different terminologies, right? We adapt to the situation's terminologies, right? (kinda like two tradesman from different states working together and his whosiewhatsit is the other guys thingajiger but by the end of the day they understand the same concept). Teaching and mentoring is one thing but you can't force someone to learn anything especially based on your perception. Lead a horse to water type thing. Justa Sayin'
  8. It's not really on topic for this thread. Here's my thread on it from a few months ago; we can discuss it there. (But, I'm done responding to all the crazy stuff posted on this site.) https://forums.mygmrs.com/topic/10063-base-station-cannot-use-repeaters/#findComment-106907
  9. I thought about that, I will. Thanks for replying.
  10. Today
  11. Huh, is there any possibility that you can explain what you are trying to convey? I'm kinda less than a bright person and I am not a college boy and I barely got my high school diploma and I had to go to summer school to get the diploma. So, what the hell are you trying to say? What regulation are you referring to?
  12. Thanks for confirming: Afraid to.. or incapable of, honestly answering a simple question..
  13. I responded the way I wanted to (I don't care if it satisfies you). If you think you have good justification for linking, present your case to the FCC. As far as unjust, the only reg that comes close to that in my opinion is not allowing base stations to use repeaters.
  14. You didnt answer the question. Why are you afraid to answer the question?
  15. They aren't (in this case at least). I support FCC's strict prohibition on linking. Stand alone repeaters are enough. If they were to allow some linking it should be done by special permit only.
  16. This doesn’t sound “utilitarian”. In fact it sounds pretty social. § 95.1731 Permissible GMRS uses. The operator of a GMRS station may use that station for two-way plain language voice communications with other GMRS stations and with FRS units concerning personal or business activities.
  17. But what if said rules are unjust and amoral?
  18. Yesterday
  19. Screw that. This site should not be promoting breaking the rules.
  20. Yep. me too. I understand doing it as needed. You never know who is on the other end and what ability to hear they may or may not have. Or if they can understand my voice. SO if they ask, I will give the call phonetically. But not every time. I got screwed by the FCC with a ham call of KB8VUL... now I get a TON of people thinking it's KD or even KE8.... but the VUL part, yeah, that's just a mess. So I do slow down giving my suffix. And it gets butchered a BUNCH. Now if I am on HF and trying to get a contact together for LOTW or something like that then I try really hard to let them know the correct call sign. If I am on the FM repeaters.... na. The only call sign you are REQUIRED to know per the FCC is your own. There is no requirement for logging contacts any more.
  21. Because Randy said ...
  22. The issue is not what it says (anyone can copy and paste), but that people don't agree on the meaning. All you have to do is look at some of the past threads to see the interpretations being applied.
  23. You're in the right place. I'm new to this as well and have found this group to be very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Come back any time.
  24. I do actually… I can point to language that pretty much implies that the use of GMRS is meant to be utilitarian, and I can also point to the Family Radio Service “adjacentness” to pretty much lay out what the “spirit of what GMRS is meant to be”,… And contrastly, who are actually the ones clogging up the works.. And by authority I mean, in the sense that I’m an authority of a well read user of the part 95 rules. Not one in the sense that I can kick in doors and shoot dogs.. I’ll challenge anyone here on part 95a subsection e like a theologian…
  25. I agree. Do you hear traffic on that repeater? If so, do a CTC/DCS scan while RX comms. Once you got that, then break in and ask for permission. WRXU693
  26. don’t get me wrong there are so many repeaters out hear but most of them are used for Amateur radio. I can hear them all the time and I can also hit those repeaters with my radio as well but I’m trying to reach them GMRS repeaters out hear
  27. So I just hard the repeater on GMRS 22/repeater, is there a PL Tone to transmit to that repeater?
  28. Do we know anyone around here with such a platform who might do that?
