Pin 13 from the CDM is 12V+ when the radios are on. Does the Rick see 12V on pin 13 ? All the RICK needs is 12V and ground and it will turn on by switch. I'd start making sure you have power to the RICK.2 points

I have been told that they are a loving and welcome bunch, right before I was called "too stupid to pass the test" for asking a question about resonance on a 2M antenna.2 points -

CDM1250's w/RICK Issues
SteveShannon reacted to Moui for a question
Welp I gave that a try with pin 7 being my ground and pin 13 being +12v. And both radios were giving 13.2v. I'm suspecting that it may be my patch cables. If it is, I'll feel really stupid. I'm going to just order new connectors and rewire the patch myself in hopes that my problem. Ive douted it being them since it worked with my GM300's and these are 16pin fully populated. sorry to be a inconvenience.1 point -
FRS Mobile?

Wow, that sounds serious! What happens if I disassemble my FRS radio and attach it to a larger, removable antenna?1 point -

Another option, if they come back in stock again, https://www2.randl.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14_320&products_id=74824 I looked for 6 months for this radio to come back in stock. When it finally did, I grabbed. It wasn't a week later and they were out of stock again. It was unlocked right out of the box. The cross band repeat feature was a nice bonus. It's now my base unit at home. I originally wanted it for my Wrangler, as I have similar space constraints, but I was impatient and got a Yaesu FTM-200D and was able to make room for a Wouxun KGXS-20G in the dash as it has a pretty small footprint.1 point -

And i just noticed in my example file pulling up my code plug for my mobile radio, for memory 166, I misspelled Knob as Lnob. Great, I need to buy a laptop. Its a pain to pull my mobile out and bring it in to reprogram from my desktop... I could do it by hand, but im too old and need readers glasses, F that1 point

Although on paper the UV-5R is not as sensitive as my XTS5000 and XTS2500's, the UV-5R is far from "deaf". and in my daily, "normal person" usage, I have never noticed the difference in sensitivity between my Motos and my Baofengs. I dont doubt that you may notice a difference, but the average, normal person, doing average, normal things, will not notice any difference 97% of the time.1 point -

That's interesting, I thought I had see good reviews on that antenna. Maybe I'm thinking of a different one. Edit: Just remembered, it was probably the small one from Midland that got good reviews.1 point

I was really close to buying that radio. I like the control mic. Programmability wasn't quite what I wanted so I ended up with an AnyTone AT-778UV. Still like the idea of the RA86. Retevis has it on sale for $92.99 right now.1 point

Well lets start from the basics. I assume you have the power switch in the on position on the RICK ? The picture shows it in the OFF position. The CDM Radio has 12+ on the 16 pin connector Pin 13 (Switched A+) Also the RICK has dip switches in the unit for COR/PL Detect pins as well as remote enable. Did you look at the RICK manual ? It appears you are trying to use PIN 8 for COR so the RICK must be programmed to use that pin. On the TX raido that should be blank or null as there is no need for COR on the TX radio. On the RX radio Pin 3 should be null also as there is no need for TX on the RX radio. The CDM and Rick are pretty basic. RX Radio just needs PL Detect (Pin 8), Discriminator audio (Pin 11) and Ground (Pin 7). If your trying to use remote control then of course those wires are needed also. TX Radio is similar however the only pins you really need are Mic High (Pin 2), PTT (Pin 3) and Ground (Pin7). To power the RICK you need Pin 13 Switched A+ from one of the radios only. You can view the RICK manual here - https://www.repeater-builder.com/motorola/manuals/rick-manual.pdf The work well when configured properly. I used to maintain 100's of them back in lowband days as they were used for vehicle repeaters from Lowband to UHF. Still have many in service and a few NIB in my shop. They are very basic but work.1 point

GM-15Pro Stock Antenna Hi SWR?
jwilkers reacted to OffRoaderX for a topic
It is nearly impossible to get an accurate SWR reading on a HT antenna without specialized equipment... But even if your reading of 2 was accurate, an SWR of 2 is perfectly fine. Stop overthinking everything and just use your radio.1 point -

How can you contact another member on here by just knowing their call sign.
WSAL750 reacted to SteveShannon for a topic
If they used their call sign as their ID, or if they’ve included it in a post you can find it with a search. It’s possible that they have a sign-in for the website but not for the forum. But, if you know their call sign it is very easy to look up their name and address using the call sign lookup on the website here or in the FCC database. What’s the call sign?1 point -
If they are a member here you can message them by clicking on their avatar and clicking the "Message" icon.1 point

I dont think you, or I, or anyone else will get that through to these guys that want DMR on GMRS. Unlike the guys who want DMR or some form of digital on GMRS (probably because it is the way of the future) I and possible you and others have been on the other side or seen the other side of the coin where the analog user gets bumped out of the way for the digital user, or where the two cannot communicate. People like this fail to recognize one thing - while they sit up on their high thrones on digital, all shielded from the analog user world, the analog users are sitting on the other side being forced to listen to digital motorboating and what is worse, they cannot even communicate amongst themselves on analog. They aren't able to join, especially when it is on a repeater. Its essentially no different than a bunch of rich folk sitting at a window seat at a fine restaurant eating nice food in a warm room while, right below them on the other side of the glass sit homeless people who cant afford to eat and be in the nice warm room, but these people are so absorbed in enjoying their food and warmth that they dont see these people and if they do, they just figure that these people can just take some money and join them. This same attitude is in Ham Radio which is why it really confuses me why these people who want to turn GMRS upside down dont just go get a Ham license where they will have a HUGE amount of space to play with all the DMR they want. They have the same smug attitude as many of them do. Most users of GMRS wouldn't know how to write a code plug. I know a LARGE majority of extra class Hams who couldn't write a code plug to save their lives. Seeing how many forums they are on touting this digital idea and not listening to anyone who brings up valid points, they clearly dont know how radio works and the mess digital has created on Ham, and if I didn't know better, I would say they are trolling. I have read a lot of the comments just on this site and every knowledgeable person has thrown every single scenario at these guys and they still come back with "Yeah but..................".1 point

I purchased one of these for my Jeep. I ordered the programming cable for it as well. Typical use for GMRS is off roading. We just did a trip up in the Cascades of WA, had 5 jeeps. It worked just fine. I like the many features and functions-much better than my MXT-400-that is now set up as a base station. The compact chasis and front facing buttons are a big plus, and it's easy to read the display. The only issue I had was dealing with disabling my anti virus program in order to run the Wouxun program. For a mobile setup with a decent antenna, it is just fine. I'm a Ham so if I need to do longer distance stuff I can use that platform. We only have one GMRS repeater in my general area but it has tremendous coverage and I can hit that from most places I travel locally. I'm very pleased with this radio. Wouxun makes a solid radio even though techincall it's in the "Chinese Radio" category. IMHO one of the best units available. Midland does have 2 options in this general power output range but not nearly the features, especially with the Wouxun's wide band TX/RX ability. I'd recommend this radio for sure.1 point
