Now that you have expressed your intentions, I have no problem doing that: It seems to me, after reviewing your geography, that you can easily use 462.575 for your simplex communications at up to 50 watts.

I still don’t see an answer as to motivation. You have 15 channels to choose from to transmit Simplex at 5 watts; 7 of which do not interfere with repeaters. But you want to use the 8 channels that are used by repeaters, with tones used by your nearby repeaters on those frequencies and you want to be sure repeater users can hear you? How many repeaters are within your transmit footprint? How many clear channels are there for you to use instead? Sounds flakey to me.

What is your purpose: so you can purposely interfere with repeater users use of these repeaters?

Not at all: you live in the foothills of the Sierras. Your experience of not having others nearby you (other than family and friends), nor repeaters that you can reach, does not necessarily translate to the experience that others may encounter; for example, here in Los Angeles.

As in: you transmit to the BTECH GMRS-PRO and it "records" your message during receive and then plays it back on transmit? Sound like a fun feature; now to decide if I should invest $155 (plus tax) to experiment with it! Merry Christmas!

OK: so your problems requiring you to use Windows XP is not driver oriented, but because of the age of the available software for older radios. Now I understand.

Try these attached files to install the older Prolific driver in Windows 11 and report back. I recall you first use it to "repair" and then to install and then Restart. Good luck. PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1_11_0.zip

Yes, the Silicon Labs chip driver should install easily on Windows 11, as should the FTDI. The Prolific chip cables will have problems: requiring an uninstallation if Windows 11 already tried to install it and then installing an earlier version; version xxx.11 I believe.

As I recently posted to another thread: One prominent YouTube GMRS Influencer mistook this post as directed at him and took exception to it in his jocular style (the misunderstood reference was to family members, friends and "off-road jeep drivers")! But in reality you are fine to do what you want with GMRS so long as you stay within the Part 95 Rules. If you build it, they will come!

FYI: I now have Windows 11 installed on both an Apple Silicon Mac and an Intel Mac, both using Parallels, so I am able to research both ARM and Intel-based drivers.

I notice a vocal minority on this Forum has taken it upon themselves to attempt to dissuade GMRS users from "chatting" with other GMRS users who are not their family members, friends, or happen to drive a kidney masher with a strange nickname (or NOT!). You paid your $35, now go forth, within the structure of the FCC Part 95 rules, and enjoy your radio!

It is odd, but for some reason the FCC has made the determination to require Part 95E acceptance for GMRS radios. That being said, I am told that the current Technician class HAM radio license is not too hard to pass and then you will have unfettered access to all the radios you want on the 450 MHz band and play and experiment all you want with these radios, without fear or even prejudice of being assaulted by the FCC!
