You could save some money and use a lower powered radio. Wont need as big of a battery or a higher wattage solar panel. For instance my recent simplex repeater build has been running for a few weeks now on a measly 6ah battery and 10 watt solar panel. However my radio only draws 1.5 amps at 10 watts while transmitting, and .3 amps when idle. Here is the link if you want to see what i used and how it turned out. Might help give you some ideas.

Here’s mine that I am almost finished with.  MXT 500 in a Harbor Freight Apache 3800 case.  Microphone and power cords ect  go inside the Tupperware. It’s powered  off of a 12 volt power supply at the house and a 10ah LiFePO4 battery when in the field. Waiting on a solar battery charger and a few other things

Thanks, I was looking at the 1000G also and decided on the MXT500 for simplicity and the waterproof rating.

Midland MXT500. Battery is doing fine so far, I have only had it out twice so I can’t comment on longevity. I have left it on at the house for two days and it was still at  13.4 volts.    I’m looking to put a small solar panel and charger with it.

Radioddity is usually pretty good about taking care of their customers no matter if you bought directly from their website or their Amazon store.

    Merky1761 got a reaction from WRZF646 in Baofeng UV9G/ Channel 15
I just got a Baofeng UV9G and it has the Channel 15 issue with not transmitting.  I am using Chirp with a MacBook Pro.   When I connect the radio to Chirp the firmware versions listed is a bunch of ??????? marks.  I tried to download the Channel 15 fix but
IOS can't open it.  Is this download a Windows only file?  I don't want to send it back if I can get it to work.
    Thankyou,

thanks for the help but it's on its way back to the seller so no need to look into it since I am going with KG 935 Plus.

I can't say in your particular case but I had a situation once where, I upgraded chirp, then tried to set duplex to off on some channels, and chirp was filling those cells with a bunch of ???. Within 2 or 3 days, there was a new version of chirp again and after I upgraded chirp the problem went away.

Merky1761 reacted to SteveShannon in Adding additional Repeater channel
There are only eight repeater channels and they are pre-programmed into GMRS radios.  A repeater channel in this case consists of a transmit frequency (on which your radio transmits to the repeater) and a receive frequency that is 5 MHz lower.
If you create additional repeater channels they will use those same frequencies, differing only in tones. If your radio doesn’t automatically do an offset then you would have to program one.
