Quick update for anyone following along: I've got most of the different manufacturer's software to run and after finding an installing the Si CP-210X ARM(64) driver for my (red Wouxun) cable(s) I am able to read and write all radios EXCEPT for my Motorola XTS2500, XTS5000, & XTL5000 - they need an FTDI ARM(64) driver that I have not yet been able to find/get working.

Yes - The XS20G is an SOC (not SuperHet) - Source: The owner of the only XS20G authorized dealership in the United States - he also designed/spec'd the radio for manufacturing.
I too have a KG905G (a few), KG-935G (several), KG-805G (a couple), multiple KG-1000Gs, and some KG-UV9s... and I can tell NO difference between the XS20G or 935G (both SOC) and all the other Superhet radios - they all receive the same, from everything I can see/hear and from reports from human ears, they transmit the same - the signal sensitivity , although maybe different on a scope - i am not able to perceive any difference.. and the squelch,as best as I can tell, are the same..
...However... i CAN tell a (HUGE) difference in the $30-$50 SOC radios (Retevis, BoofWang, etc) and any of the Wouxun SOC or SuperHet radios - even the BTech 50X1 - huge difference in receive sensitivity and even bigger difference in squelch operation.

I wonder if you got a dud?  Mine receives virtually the same as my other radios when doing my controlled test(s).

Its a nifty little radio, but unless everyone else in your party also has one, most of that nifty'ness doesnt matter.
As for basic use and fars, it's pretty much the same as any other radio.

I have one right here on my desk.. It's a nice upgrade the the UV9G.. The release has been delayed due to supply chain/shipping issues, but it should be available soon (my GUESS is 30-60 days, but this is only a guess)..

theme able color schemes much brighter LED flashlight stiffer knobs can receive down to 219Mhz more power control settings for better battery life a priority channel button, pre-set to the official highway channel, CH19 more pre-programmed frequenicies and most important a ROGER BEEP .................affiliate link below..

Confirmed this is not by design, but as a work-around, try using the keypad/mic AREA button instead of the one on the radio.

I know the owner at BTWR so I sent him an email and reported the issue.. If it turns out we ARE doing it wrong I'll post an update here.

Pretty sure Crestline .575 is not linked.. If it was you would be seeing everyone complaining about the non-english long-talkers on it all day with out ever ID'ing with a callsign.

Is not more power also helpful in penetrating objects like walls, and bouncing the signal through canyons, etc, for example when off-roading?
