  1. Does your manual that is for that radio not have both listed? I do not have your model so I am just asking.
  2. I have and use the KG1000 G and I am very happy with it. I use it for back country Jeep adventures and local repeaters. My Ham buddy just bought one is is now setting it up for his Jeep. I have tried the Kenwood TK 8180 and it is solid but lacks some features I want. Good luck!!
  3. Good to know!
  4. Good info and thanks.
  5. I was referring to page 30 first paragraph of my owners manual that says the KG1000 is not capable of the 1/2 watt power requirement so it is listen only on 8 through 14. Quote
  6. Wow good info Michael!
  7. Yes it would make sense to do it like the KG1000 as repeaters increase it will become more of an issue.
  8. I did not, I hit quote and that is what happened I still want to know if your the new grammar police, so what if I hit the wrong key get over it!
  9. Thanks Marc

    Welcome!
  12. I get two repeaters where I live and travel but when scanning the most traffic on all channels is rest homes and elder care homes, schools and road work crews. The medical usage is very guarded in first names only when referring to patients specifically. I have yet to hear any traffic vehicle to vehicle unless it is one of ours on caravan to a off road area. Still enjoy the KG1000!
  13. I have had mine for almost a year it replaced a Kenwood 8180 and I never looked back. It is in my Jeep and the primary scan is set on a known repeater in the area I am traveling and the second scan is set for all of my programmed channels. Remember you cannot transmit on channels 8 through 14 as the radio can not meet the low wattage allowed but you can listen in! The Kenwood has become a sort of base station that will reach a repeater 56 miles away.
  14. My K1000 came with a usable key pad Mic and at first I did not see a use for it but after using it I would not want to be without it. You can channel up or down change power settings per channel etc. For me very useful!
  15. Mine is the same as yours only changes the small LED not the display back color!
  16. I have used the following on my 2011 JK hit repeaters 56 miles away, Browning 450MHz-470MHz UHF 3dBd Land Mobile NMO Antenna
  17. You will like it read and reread the instructions they are actually accurate!
  18. I have had one for a while and you wont be sorry, take your time and read the manual over and over until your comfortable with making personal changes!!
  19. Welcome there is a wealth of knowledge here look around first then ask if you do not find an answer. Mike
  20. Yes the company is great on help, advice and product support. You will like the radio once all of the bugs for your radio fixed. Glad they are taking care of the issue for you.
  21. Have you tried lowering the power for the frequency your using when close to the receiving transceiver. The reason I ask is my wife let me know there was the same issue when I was less then 2 miles from the base station when I keyed up but as I drove farther away it quit might give that a try. I did lower the power with the microphone and the issue went away. May not be your issue but worth trying!
  22. I have found using the manual that came with your radio gives almost all of the uses of the software and what/how you do it. My issue was key words that were in the software meant noting to me until I looked them up in the printed booklet and things became more clear. Once I got over that hurdle I can change what I want to get the radio the way I want it, hope this helps!
