    Finding PL code

I'm having a problem with your statement as I look at it from another perspective. Being new to GMRS and reading and studying owners of GMRS repeaters, I see GMRS as a family private repeater and some owners are willing to share with other like minded family friendly folks who are within their coverage area access to owners repeater... Thus I have a great relationship with my local repeater owner and sent him a donation $ and offer of time to help him in maintenance plus support his vision and mission for local GMRS. Ham are more of the mindset IMHO willing to share with other Hams community to access a more universal access and communication on a broader area for coverage as Ham can have greater range and entertainment value, like a brotherhood. Under full disclosure I'm not a Ham, have many friends who are and so noted the reason they share, give to others... great group of folks and my friends. My only reason for GMRS is to help grand daughter who started with FRS and now with our family GMRS in hopes she go to study for Ham ticket. She 12 yo and a vision for enlisting into Space Force and see this as her future dream... She still mic shy with adults ok with kid younger than her. The private GMRS repeater owner is so supporter and a Ham. I could not get a better family friend to help me with her dream. So lastly with a safe place for my grand daughter to be encouraged, protected and safe from bad guys, I like the private protected GMRS owners with that mindset. Edit: Reread your post. Save your $70 today fee soon to be $35 in less then 90 days and get sit for your Ham ticket while it cost less and do not get your GMRS as we may not be a good fit for your needs at $35 and private GMRS repeaters owners.
  3. Thanks, is this it? https://topsyproducts.com/products/jl-fender-mount-nmo-antenna-bracket?_pos=1&_sid=54d697be6&_ss=r Let me know how it goes... what antenna are you using... Antenna tuning

Forgive me if I'm off subject on this post.... as a newbie, I value your comments on the following: I have a Midland MicroMobile MXTA26 6db Gain Whip Antenna and want to use it on my Jeep and RV... In my Jeep will roll up the extra antenna cable under the hood but in my RV will extend it all it out... I'm using a Midland MicroMobile MXTA12 Antenna Mag Mount with a 12 foot cable. I also plan to use this antenna for a future purchase of a Retevis RT97 Portable GMRS Repeater 5W https://shop.mygmrs.com/collections/featured-products/products/retevis-rt97-gmrs-repeater-5w while Jeeping, camping, hunting for my HT. So do I have to retune the antenna for the Jeep, RV with my HT as well as the Retevis RT97 Portable GMRS Repeater 5W.. Thanks in advance for your patiences. Jack

So I'm ready for a new UHF SWR meter, any suggestions.
  9. Thanks Michael, I needed this info a month ago... why did you wait.... just joking. This makes so much sense.... I did set up correctly. Jack
  10. So true... the Fed's are your worst neighbor and only think of themselves.
  11. Lscott is so great... full of info. I like his passion and wish I was a member of myGMRS to hear him speak with passion before I picked my radio... He has so much knowledge which makes me respect his viewpoint. One of my questions that BTWR coached me on was ability to change out the antenna? I can not tell from eBay info if one can. No I'm not challenging you Lscott, just asking the question since my coach said it all in the antenna not the watts. Guest_Pete M_* tell us what you think and what you will pick.... I need to know if I or others made a mistake based on our needs and understanding. I have to acknowledge that Lscott is a ham and has a more technical knowledge then me... I'm just down to earth and practical with no bias. I do have several Lexus as they are great long lasting cars. So back in the 2003 and 2008 when US car makers screwed us with junk cars... I did buy what I like, so my cars have over 200k and keeps on going, most recent is a 2018 Jeep JLR with all the bells and whistles and it is a fun ride and will use to teach my G daughter to drive like I did for her mother and aunt in the back roads of WNC. I love this forum and America that we can respect and accept other viewpoints to grow in knowledge. Yes, I let my employees show me a better way of in making a better mouse trap, they are smarter than me.
  12. Michael, so which one should I get https://www.amazon.com/s?k=nanovna-h4&gclid=CjwKCAiArbv_BRA8EiwAYGs23PhiFHDS55UjqSvYcINYLWLBJKY7VzSakRGDgomkSbWIY4Bi0nqt7RoCSsMQAvD_BwE&hvadid=456863705655&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9010285&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=7462846226143042785&hvtargid=kwd-915212976641&hydadcr=13186_11418124&tag=googhydr-20&ref=pd_sl_8528cn6zak_e This is all new to me. Thanks, Jack
  13. Glad you and I are seeing this correctly.... So how do we take back from the bureaucrats taking control of our airways. Yes, I have several guns and ex LEO guy who supports the Constitution of America that I've had to sworn to uphold several times.... Jack
  14. So I'm 74 yo and my license expires in 11/17/2030. I may not live that long so have my G daughter going to apply for her GMRS as I can not transfer it to her.... Just joking happy whatever God choose for me and my exit plan to heaven. G daughter is tasting the GMRS... Jack
  15. I think you asking this question is great... I did not know of other options as an old LEO and lived, used and like Motorola products. Confession, I have two KG-805G as they are GMRS certified, light, strong as I have kids and $80 each as an entry level HT or throw away. It is analog and full bandwidth with great sound. I do have two Chinese adopted twin daughters here in USA and so thankful to be here where it is free. I know many Chinese business have to do what CCR (CCP) tells them what to do but I do believe CCR (CCP) will not last long. So do not let me direct you.... this is what was my IMO thoughts. So after saying that, tell me what, why and where you purchased your radios so we all can see why pick what is best for you and family which is so American and love it.
  16. If I'm remember correctly reading that FCC is relying on certification test of the radio by other independent firms not related to the manufacture. I could not find where I saw that so mark this comment as IMO. I have worked in the pharmaceutical field and all FDA submission where based on all independent firms test where we where seeking FDA approvals. FDA would review documents and that just it. I did look at JeepCrawler98 links and seems that way as well... Jack
  17. Wishing all a Better and Happier New Year for 2021...
  18. In my past life I would read the Federal Register pink sheets which is after posted, printed, will be the rule 30 days from posting unless the objections are overwhelming... So in 30 day it will be the new rule...

    general info

Welcome Bob, I also have two KG-805G as a starter radio purchased from https://www.buytwowayradios.com/wouxun-kg-805g.html with the same Nagoya 771G antenna 15 inch. I was coached by BTWR on my purchase and confirmed by mbrun from his many post. Read all of mbrun post... they are good as gold as well as all the others who comment. He has confirmed what I learned as a newbie since mid November getting my call signs. Get your GMRS license and create an account and join the GMRS family. Rhode Island is to cold for me... I lived in NJ, moved to FL and now in NC... we are called half backs. Jack
  20. Welcome to the forum... I joined in mid November and have learned 1000%... read all post, learn and ask questions... This group does a great job of answer the same old questions... which I have asked. Made new great friends and mentors... I value these guys. Jack
  21. One part of me agrees with you and my better half see the glass more then half full and I have been up and running even if I paid $35 extra... I have meet a lot of new friends like you. Found the biggest and best Repeater that I gave him $500 donation as it is cheaper the putting up a repeater.... His mountain is twice as high as mine. I'm way ahead and my G daughter is loving this GMRS we been playing with since mid November call sign issued... Jack
  22. DickDck Welcome as well and if you want to drink from a firehose, look up Michael post mbrun and others who have conversations in the post. Jack
