  1. As @Lscott says, we need more information. It could be that you are on a simplex channel and hearing people on a repeater or even the other people are just using tones in which they won’t hear you unless you have the same tones set.
  2. …that can reach the local GMRS repeater that’s linked to the Zillow network
  3. can we argue about the Roger Randy Beep (fixed it) next pleeeeease. Thanks guys I needed a good laugh.
  4. If you are getting a install it again it's already installed. Look for where that is. My windows XP will put it on the desk top... I'll let the Windows people take this, I have one but don't use it much.
  5. Welcome to the forum @jswed. There's some smart people here to help with your questions.
  6. What kind of computer are you on? If you are on a Mac and you downloaded Chirp already it will be in your downloads folder. First plug your radio in to the computer via programming cable and make sure radio is on. Click on Chirp in downloads folder to open. Then click on “Radio” in the upper left corner. Click on “download from radio”.
  7. Welcome @WRXZ627, what a great ham call sign
  8. Welcome @WRXZ634, as @WRXD372 says you have come to the right place.
  9. How does having a repeater only available for family members prevent that person from not being effected by others on all the same frequencies? I’m not saying you may not have a valid criticism of their said criticism but this statement lacks context. Was there more to this? Edit- I tried to look back through the thread for context but it was a jungle out there.
  10. Michael’s not been logged in since May 1, you might try sending him a personal message and he may get that. I don’t know if there are but I think he would know.
  11. Welcome aboard @gaberelli
  12. Reading this thread reminds me of this Just substitute FCC for Phone Cops
  13. Welcome @WRXX896 to Mygmrs. 73’s
  14. You talked me into it. Just ordered the 5mm
  15. I found these and at least one review where they used them for this very purpose and gave them 5 stars. I like the wider point of contact for holding the cover down. For me though I just don’t pull the cover that often and don’t mind using a screwdriver. I do appreciate the desire to have the ease of use though.
  16. I did exactly what you did earlier right down to going into the garage only to find my gauge also didn’t go that small… then it occurred to me to search the GT-3WP and I got lucky
  17. M2.5 x 5 mm, head diameter 6 mm per this video. The GT-3WP is the same as the UV-9G
  18. Ich muss meinem Bruder sagen, als er heute in Deutschland ankam… och svenska också Mmmm Ovaltine
  19. I have heard tale of some people that changed the antenna after some force was applied thus separating the glue holding the stock antenna in place. Seems I may have picked this up from a certain YouTuber. As I don’t have this radio I can not personally confirm this.
  20. Maybe. It's happend before. Op did say they heard others loud and clear so at least his receive tones are either right or not on. In any event I hope it helps.
  21. One other thought, channel 22 is simplex (TX on 462.725) are you on the repeater equivalent which would/could be channel 30? Most GMRS Radio have the offset built into the repeater channels putting the actual TX at 467.725 and RX at 462.725. So if you were actually on channel 22 you would not be on the input frequency of the repeater.
  22. I don’t think you would go wrong with those choices. The KG-935G Plus is just a great radio. I grab that more often than not. I think the KG-UV9PX being the ham sister to the KG-UV9GX and superheterodyne is a good ham choice. I’ve been eyeing that as well. If I could help you spend your money and you clearly spend time outdoors, I’d say give a look at the KG-S88G as well. It doesn’t have all the bands others have but it’s a superheterodyne and waterproof (IP67) GMRS for when it’s wet and muddy out. I have the Nagoya NA-771G and I feel it’s my best GMRS HT antenna, though at 15” it’s a bit unwieldy so I use the almost as good NA-701G at 5.5”. To be honest the stock antennas do seem pretty good. Just my opinion. Cheers, buying radios is fun and addictive.
