CHASING MYSTERIOUS RF GREMLINS ARE A TON OF FUN
WRUU653 replied to nokones's question in Technical Discussion
Some of the first smart meters PG&E rolled out were on a frequency that tripped early GFI breakers (Zinsco to be specific). Also some of the first generation arc fault breakers were effected as well. I have seen two pump motors that were both grounded from the same source but not bonded together that created enough noise (magnetic field) to keep the flow meters on the water lines from working, once bonded together and all was good. It’s all PFM (pure fn magic).? -
That is literally providing a ground plane.

I don’t have this model but my Baofeng doesn’t show the offset that is programmed in the menu once it’s installed. Have you tried using what you programmed in Chirp already. You will likely find it is in there and works.
-
It is not. Not that you’ll notice. Neither radio you were looking at is. For superheterodyne look at the KG-UV9GX. I also like the KG-S88G. You won’t be disappointed with the KG-935 Plus though.
-
I agree with @Sshannon , I went with the KG-935G Plus. It does what it should and well. Really good info from @muggz as well. They echo what I have seen on the forums here. The only thing I would say about their post is the Wouxun KG-935G Plus does have USB-C charging and a 2600 mAH battery due to the new USB-C charging integrated to the battery. Something they added from the original KG-935. I see people mention using the Btech GPS to keep track of people in a group for things like snowmobiling. If that’s something you want. My vote Wouxun KG-935G Plus.

? It's funny because it's true.

More reason to think they just don't get what they are doing. That is something I see more than ill intent in life. I know someone that cut the phone line cord to there house phones base because they couldn't find the wireless hand set that was beeping in the middle of the night due to a low battery. BEEP! I mean what did they think that would solve? I was just tring to give someone who dosn't even seem to be on the forum the benefit of doubt and it looks like only Rich could even tell the guy he's blowing it.
-
Good point. I guess there are people out there that do things I can't understand. I just don't get what someone gains from saying a repeater is theirs when it's not. I just can't wrap my head around that. One of the many mysteries. ?
-
Wow! That looks like it took some effort to get up there @JohnE, impressive.
-
Assumicide ? I like that, I’m sure I’ll have a chance to use it myself. I agree with some kind of strict procedural approval idea. I’m not sure how you make it full proof but at least if someone is just grabbing info from an established repeater there was a password or something on that repeater tied to its name, location and tones maybe. At least make it harder to screw up and perhaps a deterrent to outright abuse.
-
It says he hasn’t logged on in five days… how is he giving approval? Maybe I’m missing something here but can you approve repeater use without logging in? I’m seriously asking, I don’t have any repeaters myself. @Sshannon he’s not a member of the forum but I don’t know that he ever was. How do we know he was banned? He is a member of mygmrs.com though on the map/repeater page. Look I’m not defending the guy (I don’t even know him) but is it possible this is a honest mistake? He hasn’t been on in five days and only had his license 15 days. How do you even send this guy an email from the repeater page to tell him he f’d up other than using the request? I only know how to do that on the forum. I understand being upset that this happens. It seems if you post a repeater as yours you should be able to lock it down as yours. Why is it so easy to change who says they own it? I appreciate the site that @rdunajewski has created here but this seems like an area that could use improvement.
-
That's pretty bold indeed. Wow, just wow. Some people.
-
I don't think so, looks like he has only had his license for 14 days.
-
Welcome @spnz and @WRWM983 to the forum ?
-
sure looks like @OffRoaderX is accurate but hey you got your GMRS license so as you say perhaps you just don’t think. Survey says?
-
?

I agree with both @gortex2 and @Sshannon. To use the radio to scan for tones you may have to wait to hear someone accessing the repeater if the repeater sends an ID without tones. I see one near you on the map, no output tone. Open repeater. Check the map. For repeaters near you. Also click the gear in the upper left hand corner and select stale and offline repeaters. Good luck.

Are you sure ? His name is Roger and I hear the owner likes roger beeps… okay I’m just having a bit of fun but seriously this has happened a few times and I wonder if it’s possible that it isn’t intentional and people think they are adding to their own list of favorites? I know if you are paying close attention it’s clear but the page defaults to “my repeaters” instead of “my favorites” and it seems like if @rdunajewski changed the heading of “my repeater” to “repeater’s I own” might make it clearer or at least a default to favorites would make more sense. Just trying to give someone the benefit of the doubt. First time to the site you probably aren’t adding repeaters you own but you are apt to add ones near you. I can’t think of any benefits of saying it’s yours when it’s not.

Oh now you control the discussion? I thought you said it was about making your own 10 codes. so many points Really? Here are listed 10 codes for this area https://www.lospadrescounty.net/et/codes.html I’m starting to think you don’t actually have a point. So what. What is your point?
-
Will it be available in paperback? YouTube guy six months from now… “today I’ll be reviewing the Wouxun, ocean KG-936G now with both roger and over beep. Over beep. Affiliate link below. It will transmits a beep before you talks and after you talks. But the question everyone wants to know is how many fars will it talks…”?

Maybe if she thinks you want to rendezvous in Santa Barbara… clear communication could be important?

I have been considering this as I always feel like I’m not giving recognition where it’s deserved. back to signal stalk tuning

GMRS Travel Channel (rant 2 of 3) Frequency choice criteria
WRUU653 replied to kirk5056's topic in General Discussion
@kirk5056 obviously put some time, thought and effort into his summation of the travel channel dilemma. While I admit to being dismissive due to the enormity of his case building and the fact I have yet to use the radio in a travel channel way, he deserves more. YouTube guy picked a channel to get everyone on board to a decision. The nostalgia that @jbkalla mentioned likely led to an acceptance of this idea. There is a good case being made that was the wrong choice because it excluded a portion of GMRS users. @WRVZ612 points out why no choice is a good choice. I can’t argue with his logic. I would ask do we need a travel channel on GMRS? Do people use their radio this way? Is the nostalgia of CB a good thing? 20 seems to be the best all inclusive option. It can just as easily be 19 and 20 or 14 just get the FCC to let us put 50 watts out on 14. Okay that’s not likely going to happen but I like it. Anyway I’m sold, should I use a travel channel it will be 20 definitely 20 or 19, maybe 14 but definitely 20.
