Radioguy7268 Posted May 6, 2020 Report Posted May 6, 2020 I used to work with a guy who had no less than 8 mobiles in his personal vehicle. He had pulled the passenger side seat so that he could install a homemade "console" that also held his Laptop and 3 radios, along with his converta-com amp. He also carried at least 3 portables with him most days. I remember asking him one time how many radios he could talk on at once. I also remember that AAA cancelled his membership because he requested too many jump starts. Some people can take anything too far. Downs and H8SPVMT 2 Quote

wayoverthere Posted May 7, 2020 Report Posted May 7, 2020 If you look carefully at the picture it becomes pretty obvious the car is not drivable.Reminds me of a "car" I saw at one of those bass competitions back in the day. It was an 80's yugo, with just a wooden bench for a "driver's seat". Literally everything behind that was either speakers, box, amplifiers, or batteries, and the windshield was just plexiglass braced with angle iron. I think it did move under its own power, but only barely. Quote
kipandlee Posted May 7, 2020 Report Posted May 7, 2020 now that's just ridiculous who needs that much cushion on a seat marcspaz 1 Quote
kidphc Posted May 7, 2020 Author Report Posted May 7, 2020 I always though I can't tell which band did that come from? I guess in this car it is more which quadrant was that chatter on. Quote

kidphc Posted May 7, 2020 Author Report Posted May 7, 2020 A reverse image search turned up this page: http://www.hammacho.com/2016/12/the-fabled-red-porcupine-car.htmlThere are some interesting set ups. I can't find the need for 4-5 2m/70cm setups, yet there are tons out there. Outside of tactical control. But eh each to their own. Quote
Lscott Posted May 9, 2020 Report Posted May 9, 2020 I wonder if the guy did the FCC RF safety evaluation. Depending on band, power level and antenna location it's a requirement. Just because its a mobile station the safety issue can't be ignored. kidphc 1 Quote
n4gix Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 I'd be willing to suggest that not one bit of that "junk" even worked! Logan5 and kidphc 2 Quote
