WRPH745 Posted March 4, 2022 Report Posted March 4, 2022 I just got my call letters today for Ham. I noticed a "typo" on the license suitable for framing. The game is who else can find the "typo" Login to the FCC and take a look at the pdf of your license suitable for framing and see if you can find it. Quote
MichaelLAX Posted March 4, 2022 Report Posted March 4, 2022 Not sure where you are referencing: Google search comes up with a few places to print copy suitable for framing: http://www.radioqth.net/fcclicscopy https://wireless2.fcc.gov/ and more Which one are you referring to? Quote
WRPH745 Posted March 4, 2022 Author Report Posted March 4, 2022 https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/licManager/login.jsp Once you login with your FRN and password, you can click on "Download your official electronic authorizations here." You can then select your ham license and hit download and you get the official copy of your license. Quote
SteveShannon Posted March 4, 2022 Report Posted March 4, 2022 My understanding of the OP is that he/she found a misspelling on the official pdf license and he/she is challenging us to find it. Quote
MichaelLAX Posted March 4, 2022 Report Posted March 4, 2022 OK, @Sshannonhow about a link to that then. Quote

MichaelLAX Posted March 4, 2022 Report Posted March 4, 2022 Actually when I was alerted you quoted me, it took me right to your message and I did not see the new OP message above yours. I will try his link, but I probably do not remember my FRN or my password. It's not something that comes up much except maybe once in 10 years... UPDATE: Yeah, I forgot it... WRPC505 1 Quote
SteveShannon Posted March 4, 2022 Report Posted March 4, 2022 Man I know that feeling. So many online accounts, so many passwords and I’ve been trying to not reuse passwords. Post-it notes everywhere! (Kidding) Password managers help some but not if you have more than one and it seems each and every browser has one built in now. I did try to go look at my license pdf to see if I could find the typo, but this device isn’t one with the right password manager or I’m in the wrong browser or something else. Quote
WRPH745 Posted March 4, 2022 Author Report Posted March 4, 2022 Did any find the error / typo yet? You need to be looking at the official copy of you license (pdf) from https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/licManager/login.jsp Hint: It is not a misspelling. You might need a pair of scissors to find it. Quote
SteveShannon Posted March 5, 2022 Report Posted March 5, 2022 I saw two things that I thought were either mistakes or poorly done. 1. For the license the text telling you where to cut is on the inside of the cut line along the right side of the license. 2. The last word has been left off on the cutting instructions a few places, especially the wallet card. Quote

I guess you could call the second thing a case of a missing "line" (several times). I was also wondering if WRPH745 was referring to something about the backside of the page if you print it two-sided. Perhaps something about the text box on the back not lining up with the box on the front? I think it depends on how you print it, but I haven't looked at mine in a while to see how it lines up. I'm pretty sure it won't line up correctly if you flip on the short edge. Quote
AdmiralCochrane Posted March 6, 2022 Report Posted March 6, 2022 I recall seeing those things as well. My wife does print layout for a living, mistakes like that drive her crazy Quote
AdmiralCochrane Posted March 6, 2022 Report Posted March 6, 2022 After speaking to the expert, she pointed out that, semantically and technically, these are NOT typos, but layout errors Quote
