  1. Damn long-talkers... I see the random numbers on mine from time to time. Not sure if its supposed to happen, but it doesn't bother me.
  2. Your image isnt showing for me, so I can't see it, but the 935G is able to read DTMF tones and sometimes you'll see those if it incorrectly "hears" something it thinks is a tone.. Mine does this from time to time. Does it always do it with long transmissions, or only sometimes?
  3. The software is pretty easy to use and the radio is pretty simple.. My suggestions are dont unplug the radio when you're uploading to it, and dont drop it in the bathtub.. Those are about the only ways you'd be able to mess it up.. If you had got a 935G you would be able to catch it on fire (I seen it on Yootoob!), but I wouldnt try that with the 905G
  4. As per the user-manual Page 67, Menu option #47 will do a factory reset - If that doesn't fix it up, it's probably borked. If you did bork it, I dont think BuyTwoWayRaidios.com will cover a user-generated problem like that, but it wouldn't hurt to call and ask what they can do.
  5. Oh.. shit. As it turns out, a AM as stupid as everyone says. It is also entire possible that I have had too much NyQuil .. Carry on.
  6. Not a joke at all. This is a GMRS forum, and you made a post in the GMRS Equipment section of the GMRS forum - It would be great if you could enlighten us normal people as to how 2-meters relates to GMRS power-output in this context. ?
  7. "Two Meters"? I'm no ham, and it is entirely possible that I am totally confused, but isnt GMRS closer to 70cm?
  8. "some people".. have trouble comprehending anything outside of their own experience and will often demean it in an attempt to compensate for their own social deficiencies.
  9. Someone finally got tired of the endless circular arguments to see who has the biggest antenna and actually DID something... It's now officially channel 19 .. Argue, complain, whine, list your credentials all you want, whats done is done.
  10. I deal with BTWR a lot and they always go out of their way to keep their customers happy.. They arent perfect, and they cant make everyone happy, but they try, and do much better than many other places.
  11. I'll have that video up in a few days.. Just like the 500, but all in the mic.
  12. Now taking pre-orders.. Should ship later this month. https://youtu.be/omdXZXG91dM
  13. "N" means normal. You may also see 'I' which means inverted.
  14. Whoever can actually explain how any of this applies to Dual watch to scanning FRS radio, wins.
  15. This video goes over all the different settings on a UV-5R. The UV-9G has many/most of the same settings:
  16. My favorite "adventuring" radio! this is great news!
  17. are you sure you're transmitting in wide-band?
  18. This is the obvious answer.. Everyone knows that CB Ch19 is the unofficial official road channel so it makes sense that GMRS Ch19 would be the same.. Someone should go on Youtube and decree it, to make it official..
  19. Yes - The XS20G is an SOC (not SuperHet) - Source: The owner of the only XS20G authorized dealership in the United States - he also designed/spec'd the radio for manufacturing. I too have a KG905G (a few), KG-935G (several), KG-805G (a couple), multiple KG-1000Gs, and some KG-UV9s... and I can tell NO difference between the XS20G or 935G (both SOC) and all the other Superhet radios - they all receive the same, from everything I can see/hear and from reports from human ears, they transmit the same - the signal sensitivity , although maybe different on a scope - i am not able to perceive any difference.. and the squelch,as best as I can tell, are the same.. ...However... i CAN tell a (HUGE) difference in the $30-$50 SOC radios (Retevis, BoofWang, etc) and any of the Wouxun SOC or SuperHet radios - even the BTech 50X1 - huge difference in receive sensitivity and even bigger difference in squelch operation.
  20. I do not believe that radio is FCC Part 95 approved, so technically, it is not permitted.. However, the FCC has stated publicly that people using that type of older radios on GMRS, as long as they are remaining within the spirit of the rules (power limits, , etc), will not be singled out..or bothered. Based on the FCC's track-record (all public in the FCC enforcement database) they have N E V E R issued a warning, citation, fine, jail-term, or death-sentence for anyone simply using this type (or any type) of radio on GMRS frequenices.
  21. Just for info - I have tested and used dozens of antennas, and the one I now use on my Jeep is the Midland MXT26A GMRS antenna. It has 6db gain, and right out of the bag it had a near-perfect 1.1:1 SWR so no cutting was required. And, oh yah, it transmits just fine
