  1. "never" means "never" .. I reiterate what Mr Spaz says about speaking in absolutes.. This is one of the reasons why many people dont trust "online experts".. or, make fun of them.
  2. I've talked to a repeater 80 miles away on an HT.
  3. It may be that the repeater uses "reverse burst" so you may not hear the kick-back..but to be sure, try removing your RX tone (which is optional anyway). If you still aren't hearing anyone talking then you might be out of range. 80 miles is a stretch.
  4. Where I come from, our nets are FUN! A weekly net also proves that the radio, repeater, and noise-holes still work.
  5. That cant work, for the reasons you stated, and to back that up, I tried it. You either need two antennas or the amp has to be before the duplexer, which in this particular case would kill the duplexer.
  6. You wont notice much difference between say, 20W and 50W in most scenarios, most of the time. The extra power might help penetrate through buildings and things like that, but, most of the time, on average, there is not a huge, if any difference. One example: Just recently I was testing a UHF mobile radio (XTL5000 for those interested) operating just above the GMRS frequencies. At about 90 miles, I was able to hit a repeater at 50Watts with a signal of about 3 out of 10 on the receiving end. Bumping the power up to 110W, made no audible difference in my signal strength or quality.
  7. Just for fun, someone should contact BuyTwoWayRadios.com, the largest distributor of Wouxun GMRS Radios in the United States, and ask THEM what the official GMRS Road/Travel channel is now...... Get ready to hear heads explode... ..You're welcome..
  8. You might be able to turn it off, but i was too lazy to look it up.
  9. Damn long-talkers... I see the random numbers on mine from time to time. Not sure if its supposed to happen, but it doesn't bother me.
  10. Your image isnt showing for me, so I can't see it, but the 935G is able to read DTMF tones and sometimes you'll see those if it incorrectly "hears" something it thinks is a tone.. Mine does this from time to time. Does it always do it with long transmissions, or only sometimes?
  11. The software is pretty easy to use and the radio is pretty simple.. My suggestions are dont unplug the radio when you're uploading to it, and dont drop it in the bathtub.. Those are about the only ways you'd be able to mess it up.. If you had got a 935G you would be able to catch it on fire (I seen it on Yootoob!), but I wouldnt try that with the 905G
  12. As per the user-manual Page 67, Menu option #47 will do a factory reset - If that doesn't fix it up, it's probably borked. If you did bork it, I dont think BuyTwoWayRaidios.com will cover a user-generated problem like that, but it wouldn't hurt to call and ask what they can do.
  13. Oh.. shit. As it turns out, a AM as stupid as everyone says. It is also entire possible that I have had too much NyQuil .. Carry on.
  14. Not a joke at all. This is a GMRS forum, and you made a post in the GMRS Equipment section of the GMRS forum - It would be great if you could enlighten us normal people as to how 2-meters relates to GMRS power-output in this context. ?
  15. "Two Meters"? I'm no ham, and it is entirely possible that I am totally confused, but isnt GMRS closer to 70cm?
  16. "some people".. have trouble comprehending anything outside of their own experience and will often demean it in an attempt to compensate for their own social deficiencies.
  17. Someone finally got tired of the endless circular arguments to see who has the biggest antenna and actually DID something... It's now officially channel 19 .. Argue, complain, whine, list your credentials all you want, whats done is done.
  18. I deal with BTWR a lot and they always go out of their way to keep their customers happy.. They arent perfect, and they cant make everyone happy, but they try, and do much better than many other places.
  19. I'll have that video up in a few days.. Just like the 500, but all in the mic.
  20. Now taking pre-orders.. Should ship later this month. https://youtu.be/omdXZXG91dM
  21. "N" means normal. You may also see 'I' which means inverted.
