  1. Send me your chirp file Email is …
  2. Did you do a "READ" from your GT-5R right out of the box, and save it as a "default" setting? Then you save the default file to a new name, add your changes and then upload that to the radio. If not, that might be your problem.
  3. What a GREAT idea as a work-around. SO glad YOU thought of it!!! ?
  4. I originally had 3 distinct K-1 cables: 1) an FTDI-chip $22 cable that I purchased on Amazon for my original Baofeng UV-5R, UV-5RHP, and tri-bander UV-5Rx3; * 2) a chipless cable that came with my Radioddity RD-5R DMR HT; and 3) a RJ-45 cable that came with my Anytone AT-779UV mobile radio All of them work fine on my Mac when using CHIRP and in Windows XP inside Parallels on my Mac for the RD-5R and 779UV. *This same cable works find with my subsequent additions of the Pofung P15UV (a Radioddity GM-30 clone) and the ham radio version, the TYT-UV88 (both using Windows software the UV88 can also work in CHIRP) I am contemplating getting the BlueMax49ers FTDI chip cable for $25 for my Yaesu FT-857d, which I was told will work with CHIRP.
  5. Will it transmit on MURS? I think this is the "new and legal" version of the UV-5R that will only transmit on the two Ham bands: 2 meters and 70 cms. Radioddity webpage for GT-5R Their Part 95 certified radio for GMRS is the UV-5X(G)
  6. Maybe it's in Northern Mexico? What's South Texas? San Antonio? Laredo?
  7. Interesting: you’d think that Wouxun would at least bump up the version number to 3.03
  8. Sounds like they fixed it: what version of CPS are you using? Can you please post a copy or download link here for us to download?
  9. Looks like he lost interest…
  10. @OffRoaderXhas some affiliate links on his YouTube videos: GMRS T-Shirt Generic-Baofeng UV-5R Precision Engineering T-Shirt Retevis Apparel
  11. Yes, know as desense.
  12. In this case, I prefer the SHUN CODE! ?
  13. That listing is gone! I believe the Weekly Updates are automatically triggered whenever a Repeater on this website, changes any characteristic of its repeater listing, including description. My favorite weekly update was September 12, 2021, which listed for Sacramento, CA the "--RECALL NEWSOM--" repeater... Needless to say, it was gone one week later, given the results of the recall election ?
  14. Given the spelling of "analogue" maybe you are in Europe, which does allow a license-free digital service called PMR. Those radios are not currently allowed to be used here in the US (unless modified to be used 70 cm with a Ham license). A good all-in-one radio for your interests and least expensive one on the market is the Radioddity RD-5R, which is basically their GD-77 but uses the classic Baofeng UV-5R design and can use its accessories, including high capacity batteries. It is analog and DMR digital: 2 meters, 70 cms, GMRS (simplex and repeater) and even MURS, but of course not certified for GMRS or MURS.
  15. Their agreement that you must acknowledge and agree to, probably limits their damages to the purchase price and requires arbitration.
  16. Your understanding is correct most of the time when repeaters are set to use the same tone for transmit and receive. however some repeaters are Split Tone and use different tones for transmit and receive. In that case your method only gets you the receive tone but you are still unable to access the repeater when you transmit My method tells you how to discover the “encode” tone when it is different than the “decode” tone on split tone repeaters And once you discover the encode tone be sure to program it into your GM-30 in the correct place, whether manually or using a computer.
  17. Except that Papatree and I are unable to communicate simplex on one of the 5 watt channels, yet do so fine on one of the 550-725 channels using 25 watts in his case and 18 watts in mine.
  18. That’s right! They don’t get paid and they are SO slow to develop new drivers!! ?
  19. You mean only if it is split tone, but even then what I do is: He can drive up near the repeater with his GM-30, and listen on the input frequency (467.725) and scan the tone of those getting access to the repeater
  20. Good story Good ending! Keep us posted!
  21. Can’t get that link to work Please double check it UPDATE: Link fixed!
  22. Could it be one of these two repeaters? https://mygmrs.com/repeater/2776 https://mygmrs.com/repeater/2329
  23. Repeater is my guess; use Rptr-8 if you cannot scan the tones needed to trigger the repeater, it may be split tone . That is different output and input tones. Can you scan for digital tones as well? Maybe Menu 29 or 30? Have you looked on this site’s repeater database? Channel 22 is the simplex channel that shares the same output frequency as Rptr-8. Rptr-8 transmits on 467.725 What city or zip are you in Loudin County VA?
  24. Oooops! I guess it's just not as easy as jumping into my EV with my Anytone AT-779UV and TYT-UV88 (for tone scanning abilities) to go repeater hunting here in Southern California! Hahahaha Sorry! Best of luck next spring!
